I thought I'd just got the captcha wrong (again!), but no.

I got a Captcha error and thought I'd been banned, but apparently not. I was just overwhelmed at work this week and missed the whole thing.

This would be a good time to let UD die, by not engaging them and letting them have their "fun" on their unfairly moderated turf. As doveton said in regard to the "major house cleaning":

"It will be interesting to see what the post count goes down to with no one here to give a compelling reason to comment. Well…except for an occasion “Oh yeah!” and “Couldn’t agree more!” Explain to me where the fun for the pro-IDer is in that exactly?"

Looks like Doveton is out as well.

Wait...what? What happened to Doveton and how do you know the person has been banned?

ETA: Ahh...I see it now. The Voice in the Ceiling:

UD: Doveton’s out. Anyone else?

Peter Griffin appears to be trying to get on Barry's radar, popping up like a whack-a-mole.

The idea of sealing UD closed to outside influence has appealed to me for some time.  I never expected them to be locking the door from the inside, though.

Hi Barry,
Why was Elizabeth banned? I don’t believe she broke the administrative position on civility, such as it has been written down.

In time period X (about 3-4 months) Elizabeth has posted at least 1479 times. Next on the list is bornagain with 1194 and then we have kairosfocus on 1084. Then bringing up the rear is Joe with 952.

So you’ve just banned the most active poster, the person making the most impact on your blog in terms of argumentative quality/ability and hits.

Now the number 1 poster is BA77. Then KF. Then Joe.

Perhaps now the number 1 critic is gone you’ll all be able to concentrate on that ID research that’s so very long in coming?

As Mr Mode once said, Enjoy The Silence!

Let me also add that I applaud the double-standards of U.D.

Let's face reality here, ladies, gentlemen, and chubby guys with oddly-shaped heads: Darwinists are vitriolic monsters who have no problem with squashing dissenters. Take away Darwin skeptics livelihoods? They'd have it no other way.

My harsh-but-reasonable opinion is that these sorts of people don't deserve fair treatment until proven otherwise.

I think Liz was civil enough to warrant fair treatment, which I why I'm disappointed she was removed.

The rest of you? Trash that was kicked to the curb. I guess that would make this board the local dump. That seems about right.  :p

Even the true believers among the 'onlookers' get bored when UD devolves into nothing but batshit77 spam and KF sermons, with no intelligent opposition.

I think UD is now a Dead Blog walking.  I will be surprised as hell if they last out the year, and I'm willing to let Dr. Dr. Dembski off the hook for his single-malt bet-welching (sorry Louis)* if they last up to ten years!

After they re-lock up BA^77, probably for violating SLoT and his parole terms, and after the authorities on Montserrat figure out that KairosFocus is behind a series of unsolved violent crimes against women, there will be nobody but Joe over there.

They will soon be longing for the Halycon Days of Glory™when Overwhelmingly Everdense would generate up to 10 posts a month.

* Louis is not Welsh.  At least that's his story, and he's sticking to it.

I am shocked...SHOCKED I SAY....that I...mean Doveton got banned and Peter hasn't! I thought D asked some poignant and perfectly reasonable questions. On the other hand, I guess he also got a direct answer, which I have to admit, is a rare thing at UD.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

It's a "bad thing" from the perspective of a rational, civil human being who believes in scientific progress. Someone like me, for example.

Obviously, none of the above applies to you, nor most of the members here. To all of you, so-called "blind watchmaker" evolution (whatever the accepted term for it is nowadays) is a religion. It is your creation story, and, thus, you take challenges to it very personally. That explains the emotional, often vulgar responses to?and hostile treatment of?dissenters.

I don't think it's unreasonable to conclude that there are many similarities between the Islamic extremist and the dogmatic Darwinist. They're convinced they're right, you're convinced you're right. You both believe the infidels should be squashed, you just go about it different ways (murder vs. institutionalized discrimination). I'm willing to bet most of you would happily kill I.D. proponents if it weren't for the consequences (read: prison).

It does seem kind of fitting that a group of irreligiously-motivated people with outdated views of biology would use such an outdated forum.

Well, that's quite the escalation there Jammer. First it was "Darwinists" squashing dissent, without any evidence of such. Then it was "Darwinists taking away Darwin skeptics' livelihood, again without even a minor reference. Now it's institutionalized discrimination (again, no reference) and a desire to kill I.D. proponents.

Say Jammer, can you even reference a time when a so-called "Darwinist" even threatened an I.D. proponent with some form of physical harm? Again...just curious.

Everyone here is obsessed with the Intelligent Design revolution. You all dedicate significant portions of your life to it. It consumes each and every one of you.

If you had to choose between spending time with your families or obsessing over the I.D. scientific revolution on message boards, you'd choose the latter with nary a second's hesitation. I have a hunch that quite a few of you face that exact scenario on a regular basis.

You know what is so funny, dude?  Barry has banned more people *today* than have been banned from this forum during it's entire existence, which stretches back approximately 10 years.

Quote (Dr. Jammer @ Feb. 10 2012,15:48)

If you had to choose between spending time with your families or obsessing over the I.D. scientific revolution on message boards, you'd choose the latter with nary a second's hesitation. I have a hunch that quite a few of you face that exact scenario on a regular basis.

Says the guy who has left thousands of pro-ID messages all over the place in a few years.

Do tell about the "I.D. scientific revolution".

After much reflection I finally realized that the best way to describe the cause of the universe is: the great I AM.
