There are many dark corners of the interwebs that breed creationists.

I just came across one and found a lair of Robert Byers.

Seems to be the place to go if you want the truth about zombies.

Zombies? That's one thing creationists wouldn't have to worry about.

Answers In Genesis (AiG) is conflicted. It would like to keep money that the local municipality, Williamstown, claims in a $0.50/ticket "safety fee" tax, which comes to about $700,000 this year. So it "sold" the Ark Park from a for-profit front corporation to a non-profit religious corporation ... for $10. The state of Kentucky noticed this, and sent notification that the non-profit was not eligible for the $18 million in tax breaks the state had agreed to with the for-profit front corporation. AiG apparently is bright enough to work out that $18M is more than $0.7M, and so have accomplished the "sale" of the Ark Park back to the original for-profit entity. This is apparently done in the fervent hope that Kentucky will simply forget about the spiteful maneuvering that just happened and restore the $18M tax break as if nothing at all happened.

But are they laying "for" Jesus, or are they using that name as an excuse?

This isn't exactly news, but it is in the YEC category. I was browsing stuff on my server, and came across a directory of things related to Chuck Maier, a YEC who argued with folks on the SCIENCE Echo on FidoNet. One of the favorite arguments back then was "randomly assembling a specific 100 amino acid protein is too improbable to ever happen".

And I had a somewhat different take on a response to that.

The date on that? 1991-09-10. I had known that I had floated something of that sort much later on talk.origins, but had since forgotten just how far back that went.

(As an aside, the Compuserve forums are going to be taken offline forever come this December 15th. If anyone has access to the evolution/creation threads there and feels like downloading them, I'd be interested in hosting that as a download.)

Turkish Creationist Harun Yahya (Adnan Oktar) receives 8,658 year prison sentences

Article on The Mirror

Quote
A 'sex cult' leader has been sentenced to a record-breaking 8,658 years in prison following a retrial in Turkey for for sexual abuse and attempted espionage.

The 66-year-old is known for preaching creationism and conservative values as well as surrounding himself with young women in bikinis or scanty clothes who he calls his “kittens”.

Televangelist Adnan Oktar, who also went by the alias Harun Yahya, was jailed last year for a number of crimes including sexual abuse of minors, fraud and attempted political and military espionage.

His ruling was overturned but on Wednesday the Istanbul high criminal court handed him and 13 of his associates a sentence of 8,658 years in prison each.

Oktar pleaded not guilty and insisted that accusations against him for leading a sex cult were an “urban legend”.

So they have to make sure that the prison that he's in is still operating for the next several millennia?

Actuarial tables may indicate otherwise.

I'm pretty sure you already knew, but for the record: The graph isn't about any one specific question. It's emblematic of the whole entire same data, different interpretation schtick YECs adhere to.

John Morris, son of Henry Morris and past president of the Institute for Creation Research, has died.

The ICR has a notice, though they don't mention a cause of death.
