Dembski's found yet another tenous link to ID that he can use to push his notapology further down the page:

Interesting that Dembski projects his dishonestly onto the entire reality based scientific community. Sure, there is dishonesty, as there is in every competitive field but I bet Dembski thinks everybody is lying and that all the evidence for evolution has been faked.

Strange, as the article itself is about photo manipulation. What does Dembski think this has to do with ID exactly apart from it potentially being the think that'll blow the Darwinist conspiracy out of the water? The article itself says
Quote
We look at digital media — images, audio and video — and we try to ascertain whether or not they’ve been manipulated.

In fact, it appears to have nothing whatsoever to do with evolution, never mind ID!

In the comments dave557 makes it clear he wants a bannin!

Quote
the point of ID is that it points to a designer. From there we look to the Bible for information on the nature of the designer and the methods employed by the designer.

Interestingly, what else does ID actually tell us besides inferring a higher power?

Dembski, the rubes are getting confused. Straighten them out!

Ugh. Having discovered that regardless of supposed rules, the nurses won't kick you out immediately at 9 pm, I've been spending even more time at the hospital. I feel like you guys are having all the fun without me. Please continue. I'm glad we're not in the early days of the thread when I felt like I needed to give it the occasional boost to keep it going. My friend's being transferred to Ohio on Monday and my free time will be back to normal, but I think I might run out of gas before then.

Good luck, chief. Regards to friend.

Yes, Steve, best wishes for a speedy as possible return to health for your friend.

D'Oh and the gang pontificating on quantum mechanics?  This is going to be good...

... and right on cue, along comes batshit77 with the first comment:

Quote
I believe in the Theistic interpretation for quantum mechanics, which states that the Infinite and Perfect Mind of God is ultimately in control of every quantum event in the universe, thus God retains His sovereignty and His omnipotence is retained

How very evidence-based.  I believe in the theistic interpretation of horse-racing myself.

Later, jerry wonders if we have ever really looked at our hands:

Side question. Is there a number big enough to count the number of new universes formed every nano second? Remember since the big bank the number of universes have been expanding geometrically every nano second. So a whole lot of universes have been accumulating.

Interesting typo.  I thought "the big bank" was where Dr Dr Dembski puts the money he took from the punters.

And batshit77 returns with some exciting developments in mathematics:
Quote
10^150 minus 10^9 equals 10^141

This is one of the richest seams the tardmine has opened up in weeks.

The appendix story isn’t being touted as an ID story by the mainstream media, but it should be. I’ll bet the authors are closet ID supporters. Can we get Mr. Scot to check that for us? (I don’t presume to boss anyone, but I just thought it might be a good idea?)

And it’s published in a peer-reviewed journal. Take that, Mr. Dawkin!

From someone at UD:

"10^150 minus 10^9 equals 10^141"

Teach the controversy: I think 10^150 minus 10^9 is pretty damn close to 10^150, but being the open-minded math teacher I am, I'll start teaching both and let the students decide.  :)

Need it be added that digital forensics deals with things we know are designed whether or not they've been tampered with. Duh.

Also, the worm-shaped organ outgrowth acts like a bacteria factory, cultivating the good germs, Parker said.

That use is not needed in a modern industrialized society, Parker said. If a person's gut flora dies, they can usually repopulate it easily with germs they pick up from other people, he said. But before dense populations in modern times and during epidemics of cholera that affected a whole region, it wasn't as easy to grow back that bacteria and the appendix came in handy.

Somewhere in my basement, I have a circa 1988 YEC book with a footnote that says the appendix does so have a use - it provides jobs for surgeons.  I swear this is true!
