That's for my sig, that is.

This book brings together in one place many of Dembski's ideas. The arguments range from very technical mathematical and logical formulations to pop culture examples to illustrate points. In my opinion, the book suffers from some very deep flaws -- it seems to me that Dembski misuses the NFL results to argue against the capacity of evolutionary algorithms to solve problems. Many more minor problems are apparent to me in even my brief acquaintance with the book. Still, if one wished to buy one book of Dembski's rather than the four that now grace my bookshelf, "No Free Lunch" would be the one to get.

You're right, bFast.  It took considerably longer than a million years.

Why should anyone CARE what a  software developerthinks about DNA?

Florida’s Darwinian Interlude
Published 2/20/2008 12:08:44 AM

Just a few tiny, insignificant little questions.

* How did the universe start?

* Where did matter come from?

* Where did energy come from?

* Where did the laws of motion, thermodynamics, physics, chemistry, come from?

* Where did gravity come from?

* How did inorganic matter, that is, lifeless matter such as dirt and rocks, become living beings?

* Has anyone ever observed beyond doubt the evolution of a new mammalian or aviary species, as opposed to changes within a species?

These teeny weeny little questions are just some of the issues as to which Darwin and Darwinism have absolutely no verifiable answers.

Other questions for which Darwinism has no answer:

* Why can't you be out LBW if the ball pitches on the on side?

* Where are my car keys?

* Why can't you get black pudding in Seattle?

* Who put the bomp in the bomp ba bomp ba bomp?

* Who put the ram in the rama lama ding dong?

As to the comment that the mice on Madeira are still “mice,” this misses the point entirely. They are, in fact, six different species of mice, all descended from one original ancestral species brought ashore about 500 years ago.

I have no doubt that the points being made are entirely different. But six different species of mice in 500 years from one ancestral stock pales in comparison to what would have had to have occurred in the YEC scenario following The Flood.

IOW in light of the evidence you presented post-Flood rapid speciation claims do not seem so far-fetched. However even that does not explain the differences that need to be explained between chimps & humans.

Often, on this blog, I have tried to affirm, withour any possible compromise, that the darwinian attempt to mess with the categories, and to pass the theory evolution as a fact, even on so called “peer reviewed” journals, is one of the greatest sins of our fellow enemies, a shame for rational thought and a complete degradation of scientific debate.

And from the linked blog article she posted in her post from uncommon scent where she posted a post about her post from another blog that isn't uncommon descent this humdoosie makes me suspect we are readier to follow this sentence than to follow her train of thought as it lumbers across the trackless landscape whose strength lies in information she has never encountered before:

Quote
Today, many Americans are far readier to celebrate Darwin Day than Lincoln Day. This year Evolution Sunday  coincided with the First Sunday in Lent in the traditional Christian year.

...Indeed, Darwin Day's great strength is the trove of information that I had never encountered before (and most people who follow the intelligent design controversy probably haven't either):
Mainly about how much negative popular culture is a direct outcome of the assumptions that Darwin and his supporters introduced.

There is a good reason why I hadn't encountered that information. West hadn't known it himself until he began his methodical research.

link3link2The uncommon post at uncommon scent that links to the also uncommonly lucid post on which she posts.

It is a religious debate of sorts, and gets into what is meant by "real," for my two cents I would say that Phil is wrong on this one, although I would agree that it is annoying to have to listen to It's centripetal, not centrifugal all the time. Still, inertial frames rule in my opinion. The Coriolis drift of a falling object, for example, is annoyingly complicated when computed  the with "fictitious" forces of the rotating observer, while the same effect is trivial Netwonian gravitation when computed by an observer in space--the object is released moving east with the earth rotation, as it falls and comes closer to pericenter it speeds up (as everything does)  and outraces the rotating earth and, viola, it "drifts" east.

Dembski came out from the safety of his bunker today.  As usual he makes no sense.  He's talking about yet another anonymous  "close colleague" who quotes a couple of guys who wrote about the darwinism  "theory" thing...4-5 decades ago.

Poor, poor WAD.  He's quoting anonymous sources who offer anti-darwinism quotes that are between 40-50 years old.

Yeah that's some cutting edge science for you, UD style.  The tards are hungry and in a feeding frenzy now.  It's like watching the zoo keeper throw dead fish to the captive sea lions.
