Someone should tell that to the families of Valentina Milluzzo and Savita Halappanavar, to mention two from recent memory.
Unless, of course, by "never necessary" they mean they have no problem with women slowly dying in agonizing pain from sepsis because all they have to do is accept Jesus and live forever and ever after in the afterlife. In that case, never mind.
Edit: I guess I have to take this one back, about those particular women, because on the re-read I see that they meant specifically late term procedures. It's a little difficult to find search results concerning late term because nearly all the results are from anti-abortion site articles about women who have died under the procedure.
