Icthyic,

Bang on.

I am more and more convinced that GoP is a Loki troll. Hitler is a liberal odinist? Onanist possibly! Liberal? Oh please!

This is YET MORE distraction from the utter lack of a geocentric "model" (read half assed unsupportable bollocks). I think GoP, like a general, needs to fight a war on less fronts. Also, he needs to get some weapons because at the moment he is having his arse kicked on every front (whether he admits it or not). Mind you, as a Loki, this is probably his aim.

Dave the Rave is a different species. He's just run of the mill dumb as a barrel of pigshit.

Ah well at least tonight I get to interrogate Prof Steve Fuller no less. I imagine he'll obfuscate my arse around the room, but it'll be fun to try.

Louis

While I agree, it's probably an act, my lingering doubt is--unfortunately--based on an argument from incredulity.  What possible aim could you have that you would do this (in as much detail as has been done--good or bad doesn't matter, just the fact that it was done) for so long?

you might try asking the same question of our resident ghost.  His act has been going on for about a year now, best i can recall.

Oh, for sure.  But there is something different about the two.  Paley seems to have his character based completely on a disconnect from reality.  Janie, if a character, is apparently based on some strategy or purpose...she doesn't rave as a lunatic (well, there is the famous f-bomb tirade...), discusses legitimate topics, fairly rationally.

While they may both be playing, they're playing different games.

Yeah count me in too.

Although, I rather suspect the mouth will move faster than the eye.

Where is Houdini when you need him?

It's always fun to watch a magician ply his trade but the CRAZY thing is..... most of the audience WANT to believe the illusion, when you point out the step by step pure chicanery of the act they DO NOT want to hear it.

Ah well.... as the magician once said to the apprentice

Even if you tell them, they wont believe it.

Louis:  Even when it finds its way so far up your arse it's firmly inserted in your mouth?

Fuller:  Yes, even then, my child.

Since arguements must now be backed up by facts, I guess this means no one will be allowed to suggest ID is science anymore and they'll have to admit it is nothing but creationism repackaged.

The UD/IDc crow has always loathed facts so this is a strange twist indeed.

Hi all, from Denyse O’Leary

As Bill Dembski noted here, I will be sharing the task of moderation with him.

Joining us will be Bill’s research assistant, Joel Borofsky, who can say a bit more about himself in his own posts.

Research assistant? Not science research, I'm sure.

Anyone wondering what sort of changes will ensue at UD should note that I am a journalist and my main interest is in promoting a responsible public discussion of ID.

I am not qualified to evaluate hypotheses in mathematics, biochemistry, or exobiology.

or biology, or information theory, apparently.
Quote
But I am well qualified to study public issues and attempt to pull a discussion back from the abyss.

You're qualified to moderate a blog? BFD.
Quote

My approach will combine “editor of the Letters section” and “moderator of a discussion group.” In my experience, this approach best serves the needs of the blog visitor.

And after all, the visitor is the reason - and indeed the only justification - for the blog.

Blog policy, like gardening, is an ongoing work of art. But for now, the following ground rules will help commenters and visitors find the blog interesting and worthwhile:

1. This blog solicits and welcomes vigorous argument, backed by facts.

2. Here we critique the argument, not the person. Therefore, we don’t do personal abuse or cussing.

3. Abuse involving race, religion, social class, sexual preference, et cetera, is a banning offence. We judge people on the strength of their arguments, and expect the same treatment from others.

4. As a moderator, I blog on the site, and will therefore only occasionally comment in the Comments section, usually to remind posters of blog policy or redirect a discussion that has gone way off track. When I do, I will post my own comment.

5. In the unlikely event that things get hairy, we may have to close or remove the Comments section without notice. But if we all cooperate to further a lively and fruitful discussion, that won’t ever happen.

So, ladies and gentlemen, … start your engines!

Cheers, Denyse

P.S.: A bit more about me: I wrote an investigation into the intelligent design controversy (By Design or by Chance? (Augsburg 2004), after two and one half years of research. Essentially, I predicted in mid-2001 that the ID controversy would be very hot by mid-decade, and events seem to have borne that out. My own blog is the Post-Darwinist.

Anyway, if she's sharing the task of moderation with Bill, she's in for a rude awakening.

"Hey, Bill, why'd you ban this guy?"
"He made me look bad."
"All I see is him quoting you where you said something inconsistent with what you're saying now."
"Yeah, that's why I banned him."
"But that's a valid argument."
(Bill's mouse moves near the Ban Denyse button)
"Okay, okay, whatever, it's your blog...."

Or we can just assume that Denyse's idea of what constitutes a 'fact' will not match ours...

An interesting question: are all the people banned under DT's regime still banned? Will it still be just as impossible for an 'evolutionist' to post at UD as before?

1. You have copious amounts of freetime to waste
4. You really, really hate DaveTard (my leading candidate)
5. You're deranged in some, probably none-dangerous way

JanieBelle = John A Davison?!?

I don't want to be insulting, but I don't even think it's very good acting. JanieBelle is obviously a middle-aged guy acting like a 17-yro bisexual girl. I just wish whoever was doing it would email me and let me know, so I can share in the joke.

Welllll..... I dunno, Steve, JanieBelle's in North Carolina and so are you.... and you sure seem to mention her a lot... Is this one of those 'doth protest too much' things?

Anyone want to take bets on how long it will take for someone to get banned while staying within the rules posted? Closest without going over.

From the time that comments are re-opened I give it 58 hours.

To be honest, she's not remotely as ugly as that pic makes her look. Here's a reasonable picture of her

The earlier one,

suffers for all kinds of amateur reasons. Strong light is in her eye, making her squint and giving a harsh glare and washout to her cheeks. Her awful haircut amps up the slight masculinity to her features, and that ridiculous collar gives a young boy vibe. And her smile looks forced and she needs some plucking on those eyebrows.

Lord, that first, B&W picture is infinitely more flattering than the second one, which is the one she actually posts on her blog. If she had any sense (and if she reads this), she should switch to the first one immediately.

Okay, that's it, I will never refer to her appearance ever again. Promise.

As we lounge around the airport, during our layover as we journey from Davetardburg to Denysistan, entertain yourself by reading Allen MacNeill's blog. He analyses ID from a fair and highly informed point of view, with the same results as if he just went around kicking them in the nuts.

“Mr. Cordova, … have you any idea, how much damage that evolution bulldozer would suffer if I just let it roll straight over you?” “How much?” said Salvador. “None at all."

Well, he uses the word 'god' 32 times in 1600 words, so yeah, that would fit in with Uncommonly Dense.
