I'd be interested to see his calculations regarding the necessary concentration of Mg/Ca carbonates in the oceans at around that time. All that lime hasta come from somewhere!

All I know about that is what I learned from Richard Fortey writing about coccoliths in his "Unauthorised Biography of LIFE", with an image of the White Cliffs of Dover in my mind.
