Go and read Shannon's paper. Find out what he actually wrote. His measure of information is not a "special case" of information. It is a quantitative measure of it.

It doesn't matter whether Joe actually understands or not. If he should suddenly come to his limited senses and understand the concept, his personality defect will keep him from ever admitting that he was wrong in the first place. Admitting error or misunderstanding is far worse than making a fool of oneself in Joe's little mind. |
