I don't recall them being half the size, but you may be right on that. I seem to recall them being about the size of a great egret. Again since one seldom gets to see them side-by-side, unless one is really familiar with both I find that people don't generally recall relative size distinctions as easily as color distinctions. Course...that may just be me.
