I used a skull from a New York City charity ward (that was the box label actually) as a lab example for forensic anthropology. It was fairly easy to see that the skull had belonged to a White Male. He was also frequently in fights as seen in his deviated septum, and nearly obliterated nasal bones. The eroded cervical vertebra were probably related as well, but could have resulted from some non-pugilistic trauma. But the kool observation was that he had had his second molars extracted, and his "wisdom" teeth were allowed to erupt at an ~ 45 degree forward angle. In the early 1900s South, you didn't want to lose that "wisdom."
