Nah, I like space1999 the bestest because it has a bit o' Lalo Schifrin type stuff going on. The others are too 60's sounding.

I liked the characters, esp. teh sexi hawt Martin Landau's John Koenig, but I was always waiting for the plot(?) to get better.

But you'll love this: George Bush Waste of Space 1999. :p

Blipey and my rent-a-ghost business took off and now the Travel Channel has all those "hauntings" shows thanks to us, but do we get paid our royalties?

Eh, that's more Louis's thing.

In fact, after searching the internets, I've finally found this picture of Louis at the comic book store he runs:

Wow, people, William F. Buckley Jr. has just died.

Yes, I disagreed with him vehemently while goggling at his luminous eyes on “Firing Line.” Yes, I hated most of what he said and loved how he said it, the snake. Yes, I’ve dreaded this news for some time. Yes, I read and argued with National Review while delighting in many of the art reviews. Yes, I have tears in my eyes. I most certainly do.

I wish more conservatives, since we must suffer them, could be like him.

I don’t think that’s true, Skeptic, I think a lot of his opponents will sincerely mourn the guy. He loomed so large when I went to college – there’s just no way you can be cavalier about a figure like him (whereas my utter lack of sympathy for Jerry Falwell took me by surprise).

My ex loves the Beatniks, but I got a clandestine thrill when we saw the footage of Buckley telling Alan Ginsburg that he was “naïve,” because he was and someone needed to say it. Silly yawping about Krishna. Unlike Buckley I am an appalling hedonist but I have little patience for the Beatniks, except for Kerouac. :)

He forced liberals to refine their stances and articulate clearer positions, instead of just allowing ourselves to slide into emotionalist mush.

I must say, however, that Buckley’s stance on intelligent design really took me aback.

Actually I understand his stance on ID.  You have to remember he's not a scientist and theism is the driving force in his mind.  It's a very easy catchall.

As far as liberals refining their stances, I was unaware that that had happened.  IMO, the liberal or progressive agenda has been in steady decline since Bobby.  I see it now as nothing more than pandering to vastly different and often opposing special interests.  But you'll have to forgive me, I'm very cynical these days when it comes to politics.  Too much idealism, or ideology as the current phrase goes.

Me three. He was a top-flight grammarian and excellent writer. I appreciate those qualities regardless of the thoughts being expressed.

Once, after being asked, somewhat snarkily, about his vocabulary he said something along the lines of...

Most people use the words they know; I know the words I use.

Oh well, that settles it then.  Might as well pack up and go home, knock up my wife in the kitchen (bare feet are soooo sexy) and set up a date with my "masseur" for Saturday night and Preacher Ted for Sunday morning (and possibly Sunday night as well) so I can fit in with the other True Conservatives™.

Thanks for the advance warning, "Skeptic".  I should be able to get a good deal at Home Depot on the stones for the kids before the news hits the rest of reality and the demand drives the price through the roof.

An appalling hedonist who get's it?.....Krishna almighty I'M IN LOVE!!!

Although it is well known that without the massive ingestion of speed and the single rolls of paper Kerouac used on his portable typewriter to write is books, it is quite possible they may have been only very quick 1 page short stories.

Anyway why did Ginsberg like Krishna, when all of his 10,000 or so lovers were female? Isn't there a gay Hindu god he could have picked?
