dude i was thinking the same thing. Senior Research Scientist at both (!!!!) Biologic Institute and the Evolutionary Informatics lab.

Bet that's a grueling set of responsibilities.

Does Ewert being promoted already to senior status mean that we can hope for fresh meat?

I think donations to the DI are getting tight so they had to get rid of some of the meat that's "gone off".  Hence exit Dembski and the Attack Gerbil.  It shouldn't be hard to replace either of them.  If they don't, we'll know it was the budget.

Isn't Ewert the guy who was nice enough to set up a special place where we could ask him questions?

I've always felt guilty because I didn't go there and ask,

1: Are you aware that one of your mentors got shit canned from Baylor University, snuck back in and got shit canned a second time, (with oak leaf clusters), posted the names, home addresses, home phone numbers and private email addresses of the entire Baylor Board of Regents to Uncommon Descent because he thought that would somehow make them want to take him back, provided the fart noises for a cartoon poking fun at his opponents and then finished his career by getting shit canned from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary?

2: Are you sure you want to tie your career to an academic train wreck?

3: Bonus question.  What do you think it was like for the members of the Baylor Board when JoeG, Mung, Mapou, Gary Gaulin, BornAgain77, KairosFocus and the rest of the UD gang got their phone numbers and private email addresses?

My official title is "Senior Scientist" too. Now I think I want it changed.

Barry jumps a mole hill. It's a slow day at the daily grimace. Today's opener under that scion of big tent churchly Everyone knows they're Crazy YEC at UD mast head should read "Which Anonymous Fuck Tard should I match up against 'Teh Evil EmpireTM©'.

scene opens with Barry playing Barry Arrington except hisself is a  much more handsome version, complete with a full head of hair

<check casting to see if Paul 'I AM NOT DRINKING ANY MERLOT' Giamatti is available on the cheap with a big curly ginger wig>

camera pans to the back of a luxuriant head of hair pauses for a little longer than would normally be comfortable then pulls back to reveal BA pondering a list of UD regulars on his iphone screen

BA muttering and swiping, then finally talking aloud
All these useless anonymous cunts couldn't buy a fuck in a knock shop with a fist full of Benjimins. Who's going to take it up to those God Damn Brits. Royals, you can't live with them and you can't live without them.  Fuck, it looks like that dickwad Useless Bi-tard gets to be point man.

<BA notes to self ...must take this further when time allows>
<Giamatti unavailable fuck fuck fuck cunt>

Are you suggesting that BA, having recruited an unemployed attack gerbil to fill the vacancy for a white, long-haired cat, has become confused and is wearing same a la Donald Trump?

“it does not contradict my points”
That would be because nothing can contradict your points.
Your hypothesis is untestable.
You use sequence data to look at the evolution of a protein, but there is no sequence data where the protein is actually most likely to have evolved.
It’s that simple. How many times do I (and others) have to say it?

I’m glad you agree that sequence conservation and function are not exactly the same thing.
Because they aren’t even close.
Function can be maintained even with large amounts of changes in amino acid sequence.

Yes, sequence conservation implies function, but
(1)small variations in sequence can drastically change function and
(2)large changes in sequence can exist in proteins with the same function
Obviously it’s more complicated than sequence=function.

We certainly can explore the functional space of proteins, and we have.

As I have said before, most amino acids in any given protein are replaceable.
Conserving function and conserving wild-type levels of function are two completely different things.

Remind me again, what was your explanation for the lower homologies seen in other vertebrates?

600 bits over 100 million years, of which we have no information on evolution of the protein in question?
Argument of the gaps much?

“..extinction is so hyperselective that it can erase any trace of the intermediaries that your theory badly needs.”
Completely wrong again.
Extinction is the opposite of hyperselective.
Extinction has killed +99% of species to have ever lived.

Learn some basic biology, then get back to me.

Ah, yes. The old claim that almost all species that have ever lived have gone extinct . . .

Anyone have a source for that claim?

According to that page the CENTER FOR EVOLUTIONARY INFORMATICS is doing business as 'Arbor Ministries'.

Is this not fraud?

According to this page Robert Marks was/is in charge. But then according to this page Barry is in charge, but the address is Marks' house (as given here).

I know almost nothing about US non-profits, so I've no idea how this all works - hopefully someone can explain it.

Basically, the IRS is so understaffed, that unless you are scamming several million dollars per year (and are not actually a church), then you'll get away with it.

I can't imagine there's much money in whatever it is that they do* so no one really cares. Until they take over a federal property** and enact their kangaroo courts to judge science as leftist, materialistic, immoral, and fattening***, then they are meaningless pimples on the butt of society, whose only real purpose is to provide a small income to the owners of the buildings they rent.

* Probably sitting around a card table in Barry's basement playing dominos and drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon while plotting the downfall of our materialistic culture.

** In their case, the Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton.

*** and it looks like Barry and Joe are getting a little too much science in that case...
