According to my sources, we are all of us the sons of God.

Does this mean that God is a DNA-based organism? ;)

Do we know any other organism capable of doing the lab work required to create life? :O

Excellent use of the design inference.

From Terry Pratchett's "Making Money" (pp.150-151):

Quote

[...] Pucci stood ignored and steaming with rage for a while and then flounced out. It was a good flounce, too. She had no idea how to handle people and she tried to make self-esteem do the work of self-respect, but the girl could flounce better than a fat turkey on a trampoline.

Wow. I had no idea he read this forum, much less this thread.

He's like famous and stuff.

It's almost as though the 'Asking Questions about Intelligent Design' was deliberately overwritten by two different things to make the point about the level of intelligence involved :-)

Do IDers still have to be told to 'click here'?

Well, guys, it's not fair! I'm only on page 80 of this thread, and I want to absorbe everything before joining in the fun. But there are one or two things I have to say:

Creationist websites are definitely a proof that an intellignet designer doesn't exist. I mean, really, honnestly...MY EYES MY EYES!!!

And, Making Money is probably one of the finest, wittiest works in the Discworld series so far. And Pucci DOES sound a bit like Ftk. Pterry, are you really reading this? :)

So, who would Cosmo be...?

I'd like to think the fact I found that site to be utterly incomprehensible as a sign my understanding of evolution is increasing.  :p

Yes, I think the 'court jester law' is true; whatever they say or do; court jesting will kick in spoiling their act.

(Hope my attempt at metaphoricism works.)

I tried, but an 80 lb golden retriever is a bit too much for me to wave around.

Plus, I don't think he liked it.

I've tried to restrain myself but failed.

This reminded me of an old joke (after all, we humans are tetrapods of a kind):

Two prostitutes were talking one day and one said to the other "Have you ever been picked up by the fuzz*?". To which the other replied "No. But I have been swung around by the tits."

Thank you. Tip your waitress etc.

For a few short days, this thread fell off the the first page. I was wondering how far it would sink before being re-animated.

If FtK can post again on her own blog, perhaps there is hope she will once again grace us with a personal appearance.

Well, IMHO, it should be time for the kill, nay?

I'm still on page 102 of this thread, which means I have already lost a few braincells coping with FTK's blabbering, but most of all I've got enraged at what happened for a few pages, starting page 92 (you know, that homosexuality stuff). I'm not gay, yet my sister is (yep, very), and as Sgt Jackrum used to say: "Upon my oath I am not a violent man", but I wouldn't mind a-kicking a particular, "designed" bollock right now!

So I tried to rationalize, keep a cool head. Then, IT struck me hard..."For The Kids"! Damn! For The Friggin Kids!!!

I'm ok with Creatards running loose, since any (mildly) educated person should know better than to swallow their bullcrap. But...For The Kids???

Correct me if I'm wrong: what we have here is your typical crationist/bible literalist/hollier-than-thou nutsy. Ok, fine. But now she dares pretending it's for the kiddies? To help them fulfill a better life in the all loving embrace of Jebus? And from that stratpoint, deciding that everyone must follow her point-of-view/opinion?

Don't get me wrong, I got the sick deep meaning before, but only now did it just strike me as one of the things I loath the most in today's society.

And here is my final point, probably a matter for banning from Wes or Steve or anyone, and I will understand if it is so, but I have to say it:

FTK: Get some help. Seriously! I wouldn't want to be you when your kids are finaly confronted with the World Of Everyday. It's a 50/50 bet. Maybe they will continue to follow your indoctrination, but if they really are critical as you say they should be, they will loath you. They will hate you for the liar that you are, and they will laugh at your biggotery. Think about their future. Stop the bullshit!

Sorry to everyone if this is offensive, especialy since I got heated up by an almost 2 years old message, but it had to get out!

I don't actually recall the last person we banned. I'm sure we banned one or two people in 2008 but it's been too long for me to remember the details. And I'd say I only deleted a total of half a dozen comments that year (not including porn spam which obviously gets deleted.)

I partly agree with SD (if for nothing else, concern trolling a known concern troll = lulz). Being a former "fundie" (Southern Baptist, literalist) I find most creationists infuriating. I took a step back and tried to analyze why I take it so personally. Mostly it's because I detest con men and snake oil salesmen but I think it's also partly because I'm embarrassed to have been one of them.

I'd like to think I was never that intellectually dishonest and uninterested in actual science, tho.

Maybe I dropped 10 pounds – or maybe I dropped 100! Be open-minded, people! (Me dropping 100 pounds is as absurd as the earth being 6000 years old. Or Walt Brown’s pressurized water shooting up faster than earth’s escape velocity yet somehow causing a “Flood.” Isn’t it funny how one miracle leads to another miracle? Kind of like lies.)
