If a planet's atmosphere contains radiatively active gases (i.e., greenhouse gases) they will radiate energy in all directions. Part of this radiation is directed towards the surface, warming it.[3] The intensity of the downward radiation – that is, the strength of the greenhouse effect – will depend on the atmosphere's temperature and on the amount of greenhouse gases that the atmosphere contains.

Exactly what I have been saying.

You fuckers are total assholes.

The really really really simple bit you are missing bird brain is the temperature of the atmosphere affects (impacts) the Earth's surface and ocean temperatures through convection.

Please explain how I am missing that. Or shut the fuck up

Joke: "CO2 cannot act as a blanket unless the all of the re-emitted energy is focused back towards earth. And even then that re-emitted energy is limited in range. So it really doesn't help you. The energy all gets swept away well before reaching the earth- winds and convection currents."

....actually don't bother Joe that is comedy gold.

It's even better than frequency = wavelength.

If it doesn't reach the earth it cannot warm it. And seeing that the earth is radiating more heat than the CO2 re-emits how can the CO2's emissions warm it?

Psst...hey dumbass...

When the CO2 re-emits its energy does it warm the surrounding oxygen, nitrogen, argon etc. molecules in the atmosphere?

Do those molecules mix with the entire atmosphere and provide more energy / increase the temperature of the whole thing?

Christ you're an ignorant dumbass.

LoL! CO2 emits the same wavelength as it absorbs. So only if oxygen, nitrogen, argon, etc. are greenhouse gasses with the same absorption spectra, then no, the re-emitted energy will not affect them.

However the energized CO2 does bump into those other molecules causing it to lose some of its energy. That is why when that energy is re-emitted is less than what was absorbed.

Christ you really are too stupid to understand conservation of energy

Every day you get a little dumber.

So the earth is an isolated system, is it?

5 watt Walkie-talkie signals race around the earth, do they?

Well actually they can Joe.

Check this out.

WSPRNET

Most of those comms are made on 5 Watts of TX power.

Why?

They are reflected from the Ionosphere often on multiple hops between the high atmosphere and the earths surface.

Because Joe?

Try doing something for yourself for once.

Where does it say 5 watts?

More energy = higher temperature of the planet.

Try to get those two chubby neurons firing at the same time Joke.  TRY.

What? So if I add a heat source of say 70 degrees to a room that is already 80, are you saying the room is going to get warmer? Really?

Hey dumbfuck the Earth's average surface temperature is 13 deg. C

The Earth's average atmospheric temperature is 16 deg. C

What will happen to the average surface temperature when the average atmospheric temperature rises due to addition CO2 re-radiation of energy?

Willfully ignorant dumbass.

The CO2 gets its LWR from the surface.

The additional CO2 returns some of that LWR back to the surface instead of allowing it to radiate into space.

Less energy lost = more energy retained = warmer planet.

I don't think anyone can crack Joke's Shield of Impenetrable Ignorance.   :D

Very little energy ever makes it back to the surface.

There isn't enough CO2 to make a difference

The extra CO2 radiates back to Earth a portion of the energy which otherwise would be radiated into space.

Thermodynamics- heat flows from hot to cold.

The CO2 gets its LWR from the surface.

How does a cooler surface transfer its heat to a hotter atmosphere?

Show your work

You show your work moron.

Start here Solar Irradiance

And?

And you made another mistake.

That is your unsupported opinion.

The earth does not warm an atmosphere that is already warmer than the earth.

Hey Joke, how does putting a blanket over yourself on a cold night keep you warmer than no blanket?

CO2 isn't like a blanket, moron. Blankets don't allow 92% of the body heat to escape. And blankets have more material than 400 parts per million

Do blankets retain some heat or not?

Which will be warmer, a system which loses 100% of its emitted LWR energy or a system which loses only 92% of its LWR energy?

Is 8% more than or less than 0%?

Get those chubby brain cells working Joke!

It losses all of it eventually. Mornings are colder than the day before.

You dodged the question Joke.

Which will be warmer, a system which loses 100% of its emitted LWR energy or a system which loses only 92% of its LWR energy?

Let's try a really easy one for the dumbass.

It all depends, dipshit.

Ah, there's the chubby question evading coward we all know and love...to laugh at.   :D

It isn't my fault that you are too stupid to ask a proper question

Quote

Please explain......

....actually don't bother Joe that is comedy gold.

The cool thong about DX is that the person you are trying to contact 10 miles away cannot hear you.

It also blows your pea brain argument out of the water.

How? Do CO2s' re-emissions bounce off of the ionosphere?

You drew the parallel moron.

And you choked on it, dipshit

Creationist evasion. Talk about something they have no clue about then throw in a red herring.

Proven wrong not just on carbon dioxide global warming but on the red herring as well.

Way to go Joe.

So you're a creationist?

What? Are you giving up Joe?

Come on we want more of your moronic walkie talkie stuff.

Tell how you can use carbon dioxide to talk to Hong Kong.
