OK, so, RTH, inventor of the TARD cap, has started up a UD timeline project here:

http://timerime.com/timeline/128563/

I've signed on, and I'd like to know who all else has gotten into the act.

This is also the place for non-participants (aka lazy unpatriotic bastards) to drop in and make suggestions and critiques (aka bitch and moan).

Other uses:

1.  Hashing out conventions for the timeline
2.  Photoshop, LOLCat, and other image-related requests
3.  Help tracking down posts on UD, here, UDOJ, etc.
4.  Stuff like that

Got that?  Write it down!  :p

I've signed on (on RTH's account) and for as much a trial as much as anything put in the Dover predictions entry.

Do you think we should be more co-ordinated, or post pretty much as the whim takes us? (I'm mainly thinking of the problem of doubled up work, and that some items will be quite trivial compared to others.)

Also, can anyone pinpoint for me the date that DT first left, in a huff, apparently, with D0'L getting promoted above him?

It was somewhere in the time right before July 21, 2006.  It was on the 21st that the disemvoweler he left running kicked in and led to this amusing comment section as poor, befuddled Denyse tried mightily to wrap her mind around what was going on.

I even wrote a poem about the incident:

He left poor Bill in a bind
He went home to pout
And clean his boats carb out
But didn't leave the vowels behind

For the record…

The Disemvoweler is triggered by two means and in the six months it has been installed has never gone off by accident.

1) if the first line of any comment is

[troll]

then the remaining lines are disemvoweled. Theoretically a commenter could disemvowel his own comment if he knew that.

2) by IP address – any comment coming from a list of IP addresses is automatically disemvoweled. To the best of my knowledge there were not more than 3 IP addresses in the list.

I would guess the recent rash of disemvoweled comments is one person commenting under multiple names and furthermore that this one person’s IP address is one of the 3 on the disemvoweler’s list. Those three IP addresses have been on the list for almost 6 months so it’s someone testing the new moderator(s) to see what they can get away with. I think that person (and all the other disemvoweled aliases) is the poster who goes by Steve Story on ATBC. As I recall he was one of those 3 IP addresses. Possibly more than one if he has a fixed IP address in more than one location he accesses the internet from. I also had to put a block on his email address as he wouldn’t stop emailing me when asked.

if you read enough of the thread you can see Patrick breaking out the refined dumbfuckery regarding cave fishes

Unfortunately I couldn’t find articles on the net that weren’t from Darwinists, Creationists, or ID proponents. Usually such articles only mention information that helps their argument, which is usually why I like to go to a 3rd party like I did with the Cave Fish. I haven’t seen anyone else mention it but could these “hind limbs” be accidental leftovers from temporary structures built during development? But answering that would require getting hold of an expert in whale development.

3rd party  snicker

lololol answering that would require that you understand what the fuck you are talking about patrick.  to wit

But let’s ask some questions. Some human females are born with mammary glands under the armpits; does this mean they’re regressing to an earlier mammalian stage? After all, some mammals have mammary glands in their armpits. Does a second nipple on my right breast mean I’ve generated CSI? Of course not. Besides, if the bony tail is evidence that we evolved from tailed creatures, why also bother to insist that we evolved from a common ancestor with pan troglodytes, which doesn’t have tails? Just exactly who is stretching logic here?

Also, you should read this:

http://www.uncommondescent.com.....chives/875

Obviously I’m in the search for the truth, not some tired attempt to defend an old framework. Whether humans came from pan troglodyte, or another route through convergent evolution, or were specially created…I don’t care. I just want to make certain it’s true.

i liked it when patrick asked questions.  although he never did calculate the CSI in that god damned sandwich

I agree - classic - and should quickly acknowledge that while I wrote the entry the image was added by persons unknown afterward. (Text formatting was also tidied up, with thanks).

How's this for an entry:

Dembski, as all good scientists do when asked about predictions resulting from their hypotheses doesn't provide any but asks for predictions on his blog: ID predictions? I can haz loads but I won't tell. YOU tell me yours.
This led to 220 comments and a follow-up post by Denyse with her own "predictions" (the horror), demonstrating that not one of the UD regulars does have the slightest clue what a scientific prediction is.
Hint: It is not enough to start your comment with "I predict".

Demsbki didn't respond to any one of them.

But one month later, in the comments section of a completely unrelated post, after being bothered about it for the last 4 weeks, he finally blesses us with his answer.
Hint: While it sounds slightly better than "I predict", "ID predicts" doesn't turn your assumptions magically into scientific predictions, either.

His "predictions" (slightly paraphrased):

- Most organs will have a function.
How controversial.

- Most Junk DNA will have a function.
Most likely wrong (depends on what you define as "most" and "function") and based on an assumption about the designer. After all, "Was the Ford Pinto, with all its imperfections revealed in crash tests, not designed?"

- My prediction is that cells look designed, therefore they ARE designed. And that is my prediction.
No, that's still a meaningless analogy.

- Scientists can't explain everything, therefore ID predicts design.
And that's all Dembski can come up with after more than a decade of ID promotion.

In the 200 comments that followed he responded only once:
Buy my book. "That said, I don’t like your tone, so unless you find another way in, you won’t be posting at UD any longer."

Or, much shorter:
14th February 2008
Finally: Dembski publishes ID "predictions" in the comment section of his blog. No one cares.

Or completely different or not at all....

How about a look at the Wedge Document and adding the "Five year goals" and "Twenty year goals" to the timeline.

The Wedge Document was released in 1999 so the Five year Goals can go under 2004:
  • To see intelligent design theory as an accepted alternative in the sciences and scientific research being done from the perspective of design theory.
  • To see the beginning of the influence of design theory in spheres other than natural science.
  • To see major new debates in education, life issues, legal and personal responsibility pushed to the front of the national agenda.

Denyse O'Leary:

Quote

Apparently, a previous administration had activated a facility that deleted the vowels from disaproved posts – for reasons I don’t clearly understand.

It seems to me that many public commentators and entertainers have a catchphrase that is associated with them. While Denyse could recycle a favorite like the late great Bea Arthur's "God will get you for that", I think think Denyse could simply use the one that closes the quote above. That could be -- and probably should be considered to be -- the close of every post, column, article, and comment that Denyse has or will ever utter.

If it needs amendment, I think a simple change of word order would do: "for reasons I clearly don't understand."

"Street theater"... Dembski's bizarre accusations about Jeff Shallit and his deposition for the KvD trial deserve at least an entry on the timeline.

Also, I'd think that an entry for each banning recorded on the Blog Czar thread here would be a cool thing.

More event suggestions for the timeline.

June 10, 2005: Dembski is withdrawn as an expert witness in the KvD trial.

June 13-14, 2005: The scheduled dates of Dembski's deposition in the KvD trial, canceled.

??: Dembski drops a bill for $20K+ on the Thomas More Law Center for his services as an expert withdrawn witness.

~Nov. 16, 2007: Dembski and Marks withdraw a paper that depended on a GIGO Matlab script.

??: "Galapagos Finch" outed by olegt. Gloppy's actual identity: Baylor prof Robert Marks.

??: Disappearance of "The Brites" website.
