I use a German-made irony-meter. It's tough, because it was used by the police for the 2006 World Cup, as a sarcasm-meter. It still works, although it now has a lot of duct tape, and a fire extinguisher permanently next to it. Just in case.

I hear Sarkasmaschine is the name of Kraftwerk's next album.

OMG that would be brilliant.

I'll let you work out whether I'm being sarcastic or not.

IIRC irony meeters weren't used by the German police back in 2006 because it was not the German team which fucked up the penalty shoot-out against Prtugal.

Well, prior to 1972, German scientists didn't believe in the existence of irony: we thought it was a British invention like France's N-rays. But then, Monty Python's Fliegender Zirkus happened, and we had to - grudgingly - accept the concept of irony.

German ironymeters are built in this tradition: mostly cast-iron, some still steam-powered, and only good for spotting the most egregious acts of sarcasm.

Be careful with the term ‘scientism’ Kairos, increasingly atheists are embracing it. I accept being called a ‘scietismist’ is supposed to be an insult, but so were the terms, ‘queer’, ‘suffragette’, and ‘Tory’, before they were coopted by those very groups.

As to the post, I am no logician (is there such a word?), but it would appear to me that as we move away from all forms of superstition, logical dedusction, guided by scientific evidence is gaining more adherents, except in certain plainly theistic regions of the world.
is Rvb8 sane?

I predict KandyFlosshead will next spend several screens defending said theistic regions, "is grounded in ought" or vice versa, and the Logic of God.

Maybe not, but the fact that he can wind up people like Mullings, Arrington and Batshitcrazy77 sure makes him entertaining.

He didn't have to. This statement sealed the deal on who is right:

But, to be safe, he followed it up with a few hundred words in a PS and a PPS.

Have I ever mentioned that I think that Mullings is a pompous, arrogant, patronizing, sermonizing bag of mammalian excrement?

However, you didn't really emphasize that he is absurdly self referentially incoherent.

Yes, but will they thrive under an outpouring of self-referential incoherency?

It reminds of that early 70s movie Westworld. Not long into the movie while they are flying the futuristic hover plane thing into the resort there are interspersed cuts of the resorts control room. The cuts show operators sitting at "futuristic" computer stations and communicating with each other with all sorts of random numbers and the occasional technical term. " Adjust to *thing* to *random number point number* "It was all complete jibbery nonsense of course and written to sound computery~sciencey.
