I think I'll invite Judge Jones to the 3rd Annual Drinktastic Dover Drinkoff, but his judicial impartiality might require him to decline.

Ask him to bring the liquor.

You may want to reconsider.  I heard that Judge Jones farts a lot. *Expel*  :p

Philadelphia Set to Honor Darwin and Evolution

By JON HURDLE
Published: June 23, 2008

PHILADELPHIA — In the long-running culture war between evolution and creationism, Philadelphia is firing the latest shot.

Nine academic, scientific and cultural institutions around the city are holding a Year of Evolution, a series of exhibitions, seminars and lectures to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin next February, and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his seminal work, "The Origin of Species."

Events will include a talk by John E. Jones III, a federal judge who ruled in 2005 that teaching intelligent design — the belief that some aspects of nature are so complex that they must be the work of a higher power rather than of evolution — in public school science classes was unconstitutional.

Big long article at the link.

Not meaning to resurrect a dead thread, but if you have forgotten evolution's Waterloo! ™, at 9 AM EST Feb 10 there will be a radio interview with Judge Jones and Larui Lebo.  What should make this more interesting is that the show is a call-in show and specifically covers York county, which has the Dover School District.

Looks like they have live streaming and archived shows for anyone interested.

Thanks for the tip - it looks interesting, especially in light of the NEW DI efforts to make sure even more school districts lose money.

It seems that Bill Buckingham and Alan Bonsell will get off without perjury charges being pressed. Judge Jones said that he doesn't have knowledge of the prosecutor's office proceedings in the investigation, but given the lapse of time it doesn't seem likely that charges will be issued.

I thought I heard about Wes from the midwest...

:D

Too bad about the perjury but I'm happy that Judge Jones just pointed out that in science a theory is more than 'just a guess'.  Not the only battle, but one we need to keep fighting.

Yeah, it is too bad that those scum get off free. But, there is still the hope that Karl Rove will do time.

Thanks for the tip in the radio show, I only caught the tail end, but would have missed it entirely.

Seeing it again brought back all the old "Dover Days" memories and a tear (of joy) to my eyes.

And a real, actual "Laugh Out Loud" when I visualized DaveScot having to explain to the Mrs. how his shoe accidentally wound up in the TV.  Again.
