I'm trying to imagine a chancellor at NCSU saying, "Have you seen the donations last quarter? We're getting killed! I hate to say it, but I guess we're going to have to allow Academic Freedom again...."

es58,

I never said something is not designed if it does not have round numbers.

I said God is an incompitant designer if He couldn’t use round numbers in His design.

I also asked whether God could make Pi=3.0. If he is omnipotent that is.

I don’t mind being accused of stupidity, but I do prefer my accusers to display a little reading comprehension.

Yeah well I probably need to upgrade my software. Still can't access UD, though.

Gordon (Kairosfocus) Mullings will probably go postal if UD stays down. I suspect that it will stress his marriage as he spends more time with his wife, and his wife realizes what an insufferable, pompous jerk he really is.

Maybe Mrs Mullings, who I hear has her own career, could do with more help around the house. So UD downtime could be a bonus for her.

What's the name of that psychological concept where people tend to keep wasting money/time on a losing proposition because of the amount they've already invested?

I've gone to UD a few times in the last week, but didn't really see anything commentable.

They're just in a lull. There hasn't been any real reason for them to exist since Dembski left. They try different strategies to fill the void. Maybe we'll get some fabulous new direction coming soon.

As if on cue, Barry has just turned up to remind them that UD is not just an anti-evolution site but has become a climate change denial one too. The first few comments on the Environmentalism is a Religion Complete with Miracles post (UD link), plus Barry's childishly nasty replies, indicate that it could be one to watch.

At high school in England in the '70s, we covered latent heat when I was in my early teens.  In Colorado, it seems they don't cover it at all.  At least, not in whatever short-bus program Barry was enrolled in.

Even the Texas State Board of Education hasn't managed to pull that out of the 9th grade curriculum.  (Please nobody give them any ideas.)

The NYT article says that nine of the thirty nine glaciers in Glacier National Park have had more than half their area melt away in the last fifty years.  The lowest shrinkage glacier lost twenty four percent.

The Federalist article says this is normal shrinkage, it's been going on since the last Ice Age ended, ten thousand years ago.

I don't think anybody on the ID side has even done "back of the envelope" math on this.

Yep there might be a dogmatic book title there for a little slovenly mining if you had two PhD's a pathological desire to stall and a stipend from some bibliolators.
