I have misgivings about this, but in light of the fact that without Dr, Dr. we would be without a certain @ 1,000 page post...

Pick out something nice, or useful like new underwear  to wish on the Dr. dr.

Thanks, boys!!  Goodness knows you people are up on your birthdays!!!  And, Icky of all people points it out...who'd of thunk it.

;)  ;)

Yeah, who would 'of' thunk it.

Think Bill deserves a BIRTHDAY THREAD here? Or is that just too perverted?   :O

You know, I WAS thinking about doing that... BUT, then again, it seemed so wrong...

Can we teach both sides?

In honor of Dr. Dr. D's birthday, and just to provide a good example of how things should be done, I think we should promise not to disappear any of the posts on his thread. Or any thread.

Oh, wait a minute. Nobody's posts are 404ed on this board, are they? Dang. I'm gonna have to think up a new present. Gimme a sec.

OK. Does he have a FaceBook site?  Can we all add him as our friend, and send him a gift that way?  Maybe a nice hug.

Dang again. I just looked and he doesn't have a FaceBook site. Heck, even PZ and Eugenie have FaceBook sites! Tell ya what, Dr. Dr. D. If you set up a FaceBook account, I'll add you as my friend there, and invite you on a fishing trip. We don't have to invite Gary Hurd if you don't want to.

Happy BD!

I thought for a moment that you were going to suggest we all chip in and buy him the DVD of the first season of CSI.

For his birthday, I wish the good Dr a third PhD - in evolutionary biology.

Then he'll actually have contributed something to the biological and scientific community.

(past performance in maths and philosophy is not too encouraging though)

And years from now, we will all be asked to choose which Dr. Dr. Dembski we want on the Postage Stamp?

The young Dr. Grand-Fart Flash, or the Older Las Vegas Dr. Dr., ravaged by years of fart & fast living and too much donut eating?

Could have guessed where this thread would end up...

Ah well, at least I liked Dave's hug idea.

The rest of you are of the Devil.

Personally, I think Dembski would look kinda cute in a pair of these...

I'm reminded of another birthday greeting:

Quote
There are rare times and places, in the illustrious history of science, when outbursts of genius supply human civilization with the supreme wonders of human greatness. It is the contemplation of these that raises the mass of humanity to levels not unworthy of what, in less enlightened ages, we would have regarded as the divine image and which we now, rightly, regard as the pinnacle of evolutionary development. Such moments of supreme scientific achievement are to be found in the works of Archimedes, Copernicus, Newton, Maxwell, and Einstein. However, never before–or since–has scientific genius burst in such profusion on the human scene, as in the 19th century when Charles Darwin propounded his theory of evolution and taught the creatures of evolution to understand that they are products of evolution. If an award were to be given for the single best idea anyone ever had, it would go to Darwin, ahead of everyone else. In a single stroke, the idea of evolution by natural selection unifies the realm of life, meaning, and purpose with the realm of space and time, cause and effect, mechanism and physical law. Natural selection is the greatest, simplest, most elegant logical construct ever to dawn across our curiosity about the workings of natural life. It is inarguable, and it explains everything. Every human good that we enjoy today is, directly or indirectly, a legacy from what Charles Darwin wrought and what Richard Dawkins has preserved.

Happy birthday, Dr. Dr. D. Fortunately you don't have to cope with the pressures of fame like Richard Dawkins does.

For Super Special ID Bonus Points - remember, only 10,00 and you get a New KJV Bible- what are Dembski's sycophants, boot lickers chums getting him for his Birthday?

Just to get you started, Denyse picked out one of her favorite books she's never opened:

many thanks and best wishes to the Dr Billy.  Heaven knows that the tard from his writings and the other denialists has given me tons of enjoyment through the years.  If only he was a harmless crank instead of a True Believer out to destroy the scientific method and suspend natural law philosophy, replete with instituting theocracy and burning us at the stake.

I think there is room for a threesome inside that sweater...

All this current preoccupation with birthdays is understandable as there is absolutely nothing new emerging from planet ID. However, could it not be arranged that wedding anniversaries and wife/girfriend's birthday were logged instead. It would have saved me a lot of grief today, for instance.

What, today's your wife's birthday but you thought it was really your girlfriend's?

In the time that I've been paying attention to Dembski's antics, he's pulled some things that I find not just reprehensible but downright vicious. I'm not fond of people who lie, slander, hedge, fake, and then play martyr. I don't think that Dembski's demonstrable hubris and avarice are good things. I'm not keen on those who falsely accuse others of being racists, or report people to law enforcement for hyperbole. I don't like cowards who pretend at piety and hide behind God's skirts.

In short, I'm somewhat surprised to learn the " Napoleon of Intelligent Design " didn't merely crawl out from under a damp rock.

But it's Dembski's birthday, so what to do? What gift is appropriate?

A while back, Dembski wrote a "theodicy," a Christian apologetic on the problem of evil. This inspired me.

In this bit of philo-fluff Dembski puts forward the utterly medieval notion that Evil itself is due to the "Fall," when humans rebelled against God and invited all bad things into the world.

So, now, each and every ancestor of Adam and Eve get to be tormented to this day  -- despite the Bible (and basic morals/ethics) saying that the sins of the fathers should not be visited on their innocent offspring (who have NO choice in the matter at all)  ( De. 24:16 ; II Chr.25:4 and esp. Ezek. 18:20 ).

But, hey, it gets better: evil in the world allows for atonement!

See, Dembski opines sagely that even though neither you or anyone else living today had any free will in what Adam and Eve did to piss off God -- you get to suffer so you can redeem yourself! Yea, hallelujah, evil is good!

As Dembski says, (p.30) : " In a fallen world, the only currency of love is suffering. "

In that loving spirit,  I wish him lots of what HE,  Dembski, thinks he needs.

That's my present for Dembski and his evil bull**** -- Lots of suffering. So he can atone for all that he's done here, in this life.

Happy suffering, Dembski! You deserve it!

This is indeed, a heartwarming and thoughtful gift!

I am sure that the Dr. Dr. appreciates that you did not just take the easy way out and get him the usual gift card to Bibles R Us, but put some thought and effort into what he really needs and wants.  And right now those boils on his Dr. Dr. Buttocks are burning.

We can only hope that Dr. Dr. Dembski gets everything that is coming to him.

And many, many more.
