EDTA, the number of women marrying today is at an all time low, too. But there are still some activities going on that virgins don’t do because 40% of all births are out of wedlock today. My next door neighbor is one such mother, but her boyfriend, whose work keeps him all over the state, is home every weekend, she has lots of other moms and children visiting her and her son appears to be very healthy. Things seem to be working out. This may violate your moral code, but you’re a Christian and Christian morals are bad.

EDTA: “And no Christian today is pro-slavery.”

Well good! Congratulations on deciding not to follow the Bible and base at least part of your moral code on the Golden Rule. I wish your ancestors had done the same. What we call the Bible Belt today used to be called the slave states. They found the Bible, which endorses slavery in dozens of passages, very congenial and used it relentlessly when arguing for slavery. After all, if the Bible says you can do it, who are you to challenge the Word of God?

I believe the Southern Baptist denomination even apologized for slavery a few years ago. There’s hope.

Those people who can’t get a date today could 75 years ago with no trouble at all.

All that means is that people today are more discerning. After all, could you imagine any woman today willing to date Joe Gallien, BA77 or KF? 🙂 🙂 🙂 I cant see them being any fun on a date. One would brag about his fake war exploits and the other two would just quote scripture. Sometimes, a woman just wants to laugh and dance.

My teenage niece was born with boy parts. Early pubescence was miserable before she came out to her very understanding parents.

She's much happier now, but I think "you can't be on the team, you have a willy" wouldn't help her growth much.

As I recall, you were all very meticulous about wearing full haz-mat when checking out UD, so I won't give superfluous advice about masks.

Carry on.

Well of course it's neither blind nor mindless; a computer random number generator is a program that produces something sufficiently close to random to serve the purpose.

Almost 130,000 dead from COVID-19 in the US and the daily new cases stat is rising quickly.”

I know. A couple months ago Barry vowed to make a public apology if the COVID deaths reached 200,000 by January 2021. Even I thought that was a safe bet for Barry. Does anyone today think it is an absurdly high number?

It is fair to say that the US, by whatever measure you choose, has handled this pandemic very poorly.

Barry made a bet with a guy that the deaths from Covid would be a fraction of the deaths there would be from a bad flu season, and as soon as the Covid deaths passed 60,000, Barry banned the guy. It’s a good thing Barry became a lawyer, because he wouldn’t last two days as a scientist. :)  :p  :D

A few weeks ago UD ran an article on John P.A. Ioannidis, a man with pretty respectable credentials.  UD worried that he was going to become a un-person because of "attacks" (what normal people call criticism) on him for his cheery outlook on Covid-19.

Ioannidis published an article in STAT that included this:
Quote
Some worry that the 68 deaths from Covid-19 in the U.S. as of March 16 will increase exponentially to 680, 6,800, 68,000, 680,000 … along with similar catastrophic patterns around the globe. Is that a realistic scenario, or bad science fiction?

STAT article

Jeeze, does anybody think we'll make it to 68,000?

UD's love of long URLs screwed up the STAT URL.  Click on it, then when it 404's, edit the page break out of "without" in the URL and it will work.

I’m old enough to remember when Barry said the deaths from COVID-19 would be “a fraction” of the annual flu deaths.

I mean, he’s right technically, in the sense that 5/2 is a fraction.

Ed George appears to have pissed off KF. The following replaced the last few comments by EG. Unless, of course, EG posted them himself to stick it to KF.

The more I read them, the more I think it is EG posting those to make fun of KF. The phrasing is similar to KF’s, but it is a little too concise and grammatical. If it were really KF, I would expect more “red herrings” and “agit-props”, with a few “fourth generation revolutions” thrown in for measure.

The whole idea of differing mutation rates struck me as a mechanism employed by living organisms for their own benefit. The related idea here would be: directed mutations–a combination of purposefulness and randomization. These ideas now appear to be a “rule” for living organisms. In other words, what seemed to be the upshot of why mutation rates differ turns out to be the actual reason for their differing: that is, simple reason leads you to the right answer. How can such simple reasoning lead to the correct answer in a purely “randomized” world? Would Darwinists like to answer.

PaV, I think you said there’d be like 27,000 deaths worldwide from this disease. There’s been half a million now. Why would anybody on earth listen to you?
