Perhaps stick insects traveled back in time, or perhaps Darwin is continued to be proven wrong. I’m waiting for the Darwinists to start demanding research be done into time traveling insects. It must be easy to be a Darwinist, since they never have to worry about things like a lack of evidence.

Editor's note: biologists have published approximately 300,000 papers so far in 2019, while the ID science journal has published 0.

Approximately 300,000, huh?

Ok, but how do you explain the time traveling chickens that must have gone back and invented the egg before chickens supposedly evolved? huh? huh? huh?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

Can someone get ba77 a sense of humour please. I'm having far too much fun making silly comments and watching his po-faced responses.

I have this persistent image of BA77, accompanied by the other UD denizensregulars, following the yellow brick road to the Emerald City, to seek out the help of the Wizard of ID.

And where would those chickens have gotten a flux capacitor or a Delorean?

And even if they did, why would they want to cross the time stream?

Oh yeah - to get away from Col. Sanders. Or that Chick-Fillet place.

This "stick insect" item seems even more stupid than normal for the creationists.

I have watched several "praying mantis" capture and eat moths, and a few other insects. One night in particular stands out; There was a mantis on a bare light pole surrounded by moths. The mantis missed far more moths than they captured. Their adaptive advantage seems to be avoiding detection from prey.

For instance, in support of the claim that it is ‘crazy’, I can reference the fact that no material object can travel the speed of light, much less travel faster than the speed of light, and that the milky way galaxy itself is on the order of at least 170,000 light-years, and possibly up to 200,000 light-years, across its diameter.

I am not a scientist, so I must sheepishly ask: Is light itself, which travels 'at the speed of light,' considered a 'material object'? If not, what is it that is traveling 'at the speed of light'?

I guess he's using "material object" to mean something that has rest mass*, which photons don't have.

*(energy possessed by a particle minus its kinetic energy, i.e., its energy when not moving)

Darwinism, as understood today (neo-Darwinism) is natural selection acting on random mutations of a life form’s genome.

By that definition nobody who studies biology is a Darwinist, so you’ve created a straw man. Why do you keep on going on about it? Why not actually learn about what modern evolutionary thought is? Or is ID in such a poor state that you can’t find arguments against actual evolutionary biology?

Well, I know I can feel the warmth when infra-red light hits my arm, I get sunburned when ultra-violet light hits my back and a lot of people got their shadows burned into concrete and stone at Hiroshema and Nagasaki by a very bright light, so light sounds pretty material to me.

bs77 might be shocked to hear this though, for he is on record as saying that materialism is falsified because atoms are not shiny little balls.

I know, we'll tell him light is also a wave.  That'll make him feel better.

You just can’t make this stuff up. Seversky apparently has no clue what the reductive materialism that undergirds his very own Darwinian worldview actually entails.

And it’s a tad ironic that you seem to be completely unaware that quantum mechanics is reductive materialism taken to the n-th degree. It reduces everything to the properties of material or physical reality at the smallest scale we have been able to observe thus far.

Though Charles Darwin himself knew nothing about the information in life that is constraining it to be so far out of thermodynamic equilibrium, he, none-the-less, was a reductive materialist. As Adam Sedgwick himself chastised Darwin, “There is a moral or metaphysical part of nature as well as a physical. A man who denies this is deep in the mire of folly.”

Neither evolution nor quantum theory have anything to do with morality

Since Seversky apparently does not grasp even the basics of his own reductive materialistic philosophy that undergirds his Darwinian worldview, there is scant hope that he will ever understand the falsification of his reductive materialism by quantum mechanics in general and its falsification by quantum information in particular.

Once again, it’s a tad ironic that you seem to be completely unaware that quantum mechanics, far from falsifying reductive materialism, is reductive materialism taken to the n-th degree. It reduces everything to the properties of material or physical reality at the smallest scale we have been able to observe thus far.

Number one science itself, specifically advances in quantum mechanics, have now falsified reductive materialism as being true. Specifically, advances in quantum mechanics have now falsified hidden variables and have now also falsified ‘realism’ itself. (‘Realism’ is the belief that a material reality exists separate from our conscious observation of it.

Once again, if nothing exists until we observe it, what are we observing in the first place. Concerning the quantum world, to quote Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride “You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means”.

I hope the servers at uncommon descent have about 12 GB of free space for the cut and paste text BornAgain's about to lay down  :D

Depends on the compression algorithm. His reposts probably only use a few bits.

They could just use a smaller font.

And if he just used all caps he could use baudot code thus saving the online storage business from serious shortages.

Why he doesn't just point to the Chapter and Verse from his Gideon's is truly a mystery.

That could be done with a single sentence. Job done.

I've heard that brevity is the soul of wit, so maybe wit is something he lacks?
