BB, your comment inadvertently speaks for itself; starting with basic disrespect as you full well know that I am a Caribbean person of tricontinental ancestry.

Your ego precedes you. I have no idea what your ancestry is. And, frankly, I don’t care.

Notice, here, that Commonwealth armed forces included many volunteers from colonies in both world wars, literally from India to the West Indies.

And they also included conscripted “volunteers”. But don’t underestimate the promise of three squares a day to many of these indigenous peoples. There is a reason why many of the “volunteers” came from the poorest of society.

I side with firemen who went into the Towers even as civilians were being shepherded out.

As do I. They, and all the other first responders deserve our utmost respect.

But I also side with the small population of Gander Newfoundland who took thousands of American citizens into their houses, without question or demands, because their planes were forced to land in this WWII transit point.

Your problem is…

Sorry, but when anyone starts a sentence with “your problem is”, I know they have nothing of value to listen to. I will but my moral values (atheist though they may be) up against yours any day, and twice on Tuesday. The difference between you and I is that I don’t pre-judge based on religion or world view. I accept that homosexuals are entitled to the benefits that I, as a heterosexual, have. I accept that I, as a man, can’t dictate what a woman does with her body. I accept that a Jew or Muslim is entitled to worship as they see fit as long as they don’t break any laws (Christians, as well). I accept that people (and children) are entitled to be given accurate information. I accept that my sexual mores should not be imposed on others, as long as those involved are of consenting age. I accept that people shouldn’t be allowed to use “freedom of religion” to discriminate against others.

tricontinental? He's the son of geographical land forms or even perhaps tectonic plates? That would make him transcontinental. Do they have trans bath rooms on Montserrat?

If you want to watch BatShit77 try to lecture Sean Carroll on QM, here's the link. It would be fun to watch BS77 try to take the QM401 and 402 classes I had, but they wouldn't even let him register, because he wouldn't have any of the necessary prereqs.

(ETA: to be clear, he's lecturing in SC's general direction, SC isn't there to respond.)

Is the universe two billion years younger than we think?

If that’s true, then the idea that Darwinism (purely random mutations that survive or not explain the awesomely complex life forms we are engulfed in) is even less plausible.

Those are possible changes to the Hubble Constant calculations. The earth is dated with radiometric measurements, which wouldn't be changed at all, you dumb dumbass.

Dense an Dreary has decided that half a billion and half a million are the same thing.

OP title: Ancient Human Group As A “Cold Case” Nearly Half A Billion Years Ago?

From first paragraph of OP: But there was one complication: the events unfolded 430,000 years ago.

News, you might want to correct your title. 430,000 years is half a million years, not half a billion.

From the Discover article:
Quote
The evidence was unearthed by anthropologists beginning in the 1980s at Sima de los Huesos — the “pit of bones” — in Spain’s Atapuerca mountains. The spectacular cave chamber, nearly 100 feet below the surface, has yielded remains from at least 28 hominin individuals. Ancient DNA analysis of the fossils — the oldest human genetic code ever sequenced — indicates that these people were ancestors to Neanderthals.

And vmahuna replies:

OK, I think somebody’s got ENTIRELY the wrong focus here. We have a cave in SPAIN (not Ethiopia) FILLED with the half-million year old bones of MODERN humans, and the only question they can think of is: How did the bones GET there? How about “How did the NEANDERTHALS get there?”

bunch of geniuses over there, I tell you what.

And how does this wondrous new detail explain why there are ZERO dinosaur fossils in the KT boundary or immediately above it? Did the dinos simply pack their bags and go home? Or were they already extinct before the rock hit? This is like a murder mystery in which the police have a pretty good idea of what color suit the killer was wearing but no idea how the victim was killed. And yet the investigation continues to focus on the suit.

Also Earth approx. 4 billion years, universe around 13 billion. Plenty of spare time.

Vmahuna ,

These are Homo heidelbergensis remains, which are known from Africa to Great Britain and the Far East. This is just part of the range of this species at this time.

Perhaps Denyse needs to upgrade her skill set.

Unfortunately, nowadays most courses on Sciencey tend to focus on research topics, such as how to photoshop yourself into a stock image of a laboratory.

A female impersonator impersonator?

Come to think of it, has anyone seen Densey and GEM in the same room at the same time?

FYI, using Intelligent Design Totes Science Methodology I have discovered that the name Sharon Mahoney decodes phonetically to Sharing My Honey.

This is Joke's lowkey way of publicly signaling other cucks.

Jawa@648, site ranking isn’t always an indication of site validity, integrity or reliability. For example:

UD (uncommondescent.com) ……………………..698,761
Westboro baptist church (godhatesfags.com).. 50,430

This will not end well.
