Yup! That’s part of the problem.

Another problem is the gullible population’s lack of discernment, which makes the pop-sci publications so sought after for plain entertainment. Amusement is related to not thinking. Really pathetic. Been there, done that too. Yes, you’ve read it correctly. I was in that crowd too. Was lost, but now I’m found. Was blind, but now I see. Amazing grace.

We should test everything and hold what is good.

News,

Could it be that the Hungarians collaborated with the Hawaiians just for an excuse to get a paid trip to the exotic islands in the Pacific Ocean?

3 Dionisio April 2, 2017 at 11:04 pm

Ok, let’s get serious:

Does anybody think the Hawaiians (or anybody else except the Magyars) could understand the language used in the following website?

BTW, I have good friends in Budapest. My wife and I were there years ago and I was amazed at seeing how our local friends could communicate so easily everywhere in that city! Even their little grandchildren could speak that language! Wow!

Have you ever heard that language?
Watch this video of a popular music band when I was in college:

I’m thinking about teaching a few Hungarian words to my grandkids. Maybe a couple of Chinese words too. That on top of some early exposure to select classic music should help develop their intellects.

My Chinese colleagues at work taught me to say “knee how!” which is like saying hola! in Spanish or hi! in English.
In order to remember it, I relate it to asking “how’s your knee?” but abbreviated, backward and with a nice cheerful tone of voice.

I think you should teach your grandchildren some Spanish too.  I would suggest, "¡Chinga tu madre, cabrón!"  Along with a good pair of track shoes, this should help develop their running form.

For extra enhancement, teach them to make the universal gesture of respect, extending the middle fingers of both hands straight up, while making the greeting.

Don't forget to tell them to pump their hands vigorously while making the greeting.

In Japanese Sign Language, when one extends the middle fingers of both hands straight up, and the dominant (usually right) hand moves above the other, that is the sign representing the concept "older brother". Done the other way, "younger brother". It's one of my favorite examples to use when someone asks, as they do on a fairly regular basis, "Is sign language the same all over the world?"

GP, Obviously, I’m unlikely to read multiple several-thousand-word posts any time soon. In general, this approach looks like the classic creationist tactic of over-specifying the target (by looking at what exists now and presuming it’s the only way a given function could be encoded), but I’ll let you know if I have time to look in more detail.

Peter/OLV,

Are you the same person? And you also running several other accounts on UD?

after an elaborate conspiracy theory with a thick plot that could be a bestseller in fiction books, we look back and see this:

“I hadn’t seen the thread. I actually have a paper focusing on chromatin state in review just now.”

This paper has been accepted for publication, so I’m not very keen to provide details that would “out” my real life name. But in general, I was thinking about two things. The origin of genes and the evolution of long-range enhancers.
[was he referring to the paper he mentioned @18 ?]

So little going on at UD these days. KairosDoofus wondering if they should babble about Privileged Planet stuff more.

Does the existence of KF demonstrate that our Universe is not sufficiently fine-tuned?

It's more evidence that the universe was fine-tuned for the production of idiots.

Perhaps the Designer wishes us to be humorously entertained?

If that were the case, we'd see the return to Uncommonly Douche of Dr. Dr. Dumbass and his faithful lapdog Dave. The ensuing Deathmatches between Dave and Joe the Internet Toughguy, and Kairosfocus aka Gordon E. Mullings of Jackoff Heights Montserrat and Dr. Dr. Fartyvid, would be entertainment for years, as opposed to this boring UD existence of late.

There's not even been any good spittleflecking for months. And Barry Arrogant has slithered down some bill-collecting gutter, I take it. Is Dense and Dreary even "writing" anything worth mocking lately?

Boring. They've used the Blue Boringers, I tell you.

Denyse is still writing for Salvomag which this month headlines with an article about carbon.

He seems to be working for The Pearman Law Firm, who advertise themselves as "Compassionate Colorado Lawyers".

I now have a choice of snark:
(a) what's Barry doing there/they should sack him etc.
(b) I guess they make sure he never meets any clients
© they were being compassionate in giving him a job.

Compassionate? Or conservative?
Do they serve summons on the underemployed and undervalued? Or do they beat their wives?
Maybe they like the unspecified sexual boundaries of passion in the after hours of bass in a pond.

Or in Barry's case justifying Columbine or his Gay flagenda.

“Any ideas?”

Yes! Theosis.

You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matthew 5:48

That is the only aim that is worth pursuing. Everything else is insignificant compared to this.
