shouldn't we make KF Bingo cards?

Given Gordo's verbosity, wouldn't everyone win?

single bingos wouldn't usually win. You'd have you win by double-bingos, triple bingos, etc.  :p

We'd have to read his spew in order to fill out the cards.  A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

KF continues to amaze.  (This is in a Wikipedia bashing thread if you're wondering at Gordon's sudden interest in encyclopedias.)

F/N: A capital example of unintended irony in the cited article; regarding encyclopedias as reflecting and perhaps helping shape radical secularist agendas . . . while missing out the notorious evidence on where the case in point ended up:

In Europe, the quest to compile a modern encyclopedia started with the Enlightenment in the 18th century. (Immanuel Kant coined a fitting Latin motto for the movement: “Sapere aude,” or “Dare to know.”) French Enlightenment thinkers like Francis Bacon and Denis Diderot began compiling ambitious encyclopedias, inspiring others throughout France, Germany, England, Switzerland and the Netherlands. The religious ruling class’s discomfort with the effort only helped its financial feasibility; there was an obvious market for these massive collections, often published in numerous volumes, for an increasingly secular middle-class. The first volume of Encycopedie was sold in 1751 to 2,000 subscribers, who would go on to receive the entire twenty-eight-volume set. Notable revolutionary thinkers such as Voltaire, Rousseau, and Montesquieu were involved in the editing of the work and several even ended up in prison. Only 17 years after the publication of the last volume in 1772, the French revolution began, leading to perhaps the most secular state in human history.

That trend toward rationality and enlightenment was endangered long before the advent of the Internet.

I see you one French Revolution and raise you one guillotine. Multiply by a generation of expansionist wars under colours of liberty, equality, fraternity. Not to mention, modern Dictatorship as pioneered by Napoleon.

I've been considering going to Montserrat.  The plan would be to take some ham radio equipment along and sit on the beach, cold drink at hand, talking to the world.  Montserrat doesn't seem to have any local hams and when visitors go on the air like that, a lot of people want to make a contact with them so they can put the island in their log books.  Montserrat counts as a country.

The danger, of course, is that you could wind up trapped on a small island with KairosFocus and the next plane out's not untill Tuesday.

And in the next message, we have

Parable of the Cave

Somebody was hoping to see this.

I have to admit that Plato's description of the ship does remind me of the state of America today, if you make the captain a little mental in addition to his other defects.

I doubt that KF thinks of himself as one of the crew, elevating incompetents to pilot and navigator and throwing anybody with actual knowledge of those skills overboard.

Yeah and you have to hand pump avgas from 50gal drums yourself before you can take off. That and make sure the Governor's wife hasn't had your luggage replaced  with the live tropical fish she trades for a bit of extra pocket money.

n.b. I've had experience with both of those in my travels to remote isolated islands with no proper air services. In PNG the local pidgin word for helicopter is 'mixmaster come Jesus Christ'.

That's a rum observation. Probably Gordon's ancestors would sadly only have played a supporting role in the story of rum given that slavery was partly financed by molasses  produced from Caribbean sugar plantations. Once they were freed they were shackled to another wheel that of the Baptist or possibly Wesleyan missionaries/expatriate near do wells stowed away on rotting hulks from the mother country. If he could only hook up an ABU fishing reel to a recycled outboard motor leg he would be able to hand power his whole island away from that infernal volcano.
