If the surface is 80 degrees and the energy being radiated back is 70 degrees does that heat up the surface or cool it down?

Energy doesn't have a temperature you dumbass.  An object with a certain thermal energy will have a certain temperature.  If you add more energy to the object the temperature of the object will increase.

You really are the most ignorant dumbass on the planet.

And seeing that the earth is radiating more heat than the CO2 re-emits how can the CO2's emissions warm it?

The extra CO2 radiates back to Earth a portion of the energy which otherwise would be radiated into space.

More energy = higher temperature of the planet.

Try to get those two chubby neurons firing at the same time Joke.  TRY.

What? So if I add a heat source of say 70 degrees to a room that is already 80, are you saying the room is going to get warmer? Really?

I have a room at 80.  Will it lose more heat each night if the outside temp is 30 or 40?  What happens if you keep adding the same amount of heat to the room each day, but it doesn’t cool all the way back down every night because you lost less to the outside?

So the earth is now a room? Really?

Analogies.  How the fuck do they work?

The analogy would be having two space heaters in the room. One set at 80 and one set at 70.

Would the temperature of the room ever get to 90 without any other heat source? No

Will the 70 degree heat source make the room warmer than the 80 degree heat source? No

Wrong again dumbass.

The analogy would be you have a space heater in a room going full blast with the temperature outside being 30 F.  With the windows in the room open the room temperature stabilizes and the temperature reaches equilibrium at 70 F.

Heat energy added from space heater - heat energy lost out window = room at 70 F.

Now you close the windows so no heat is being lost to the outside.  What happens to the temperature in the room?

I bet your dumbass can't work that out either.

Your analogy is total bullshit and exposes both your ignorance and desperation

Hah!  Joke shits his pants again and runs away from a simple analogy he can't refute.   :D

Not if the earth is already warmer than the thermal energy released by the CO2.

Dumbass.

CO2 does not amplify the thermal energy it absorbs. And it loses some of it as it collides with other atmospheric molecules. That means it releases less than it absorbed, which means the released thermal energy is less than that coming from the surface

If the surface is 80 degrees and the energy being radiated back is 70 degrees does that heat up the surface or cool it down?

(heat is energy, morons)

Frequency = wavelength.

Adding energy to an object makes it colder.

Energy has a temperature.

Yes, under certain contexts frequency and wavelength are interchangeable. Your ignorance of the English language is not an argument nor a refutations.

Thermal energy definitely has a temperature

Adding 70 degrees of thermal energy to an 80 degree surface will make that surface colder.

Are you really that desperate and ignorant, timmy?

Energy doesn't have a temperature you dumbass.  An object with a certain thermal energy will have a certain temperature.  If you add more energy to the object the temperature of the object will increase.

You really are the most ignorant dumbass on the planet.

You cannot add more energy to an already energized molecule of CO2.

But you CAN add the energy re-emitted by atmospheric CO2 to the Earth and warm it further.

Not if the earth is already warmer than the thermal energy released by the CO2.

Joke's new faceplant:

Energy has a temperature, warm energy and cold energy can't mix.

Thermal energy isn't radiated either you dumbass.  Thermal energy is an internal property of a system, as is temperature.  The two are related but NOT equal.    The energy transferred is called HEAT, either through conduction, convection, or radiation.  The unit of heat is the joule.

You have a space heater in a room going full blast with the temperature outside being 30 F.  With the windows in the room open the room temperature stabilizes and the temperature reaches equilibrium at 70 F.

Heat energy added from space heater - heat energy lost out window = room at 70 F.

Now you close the windows so no heat is being lost to the outside.  What happens to the temperature in the room?
