Fuck zat supposed to mean?

linky

It won't be peer reviewed, but we know how bad peer review, and science in general, is.

Hmm - quiet over there and here - is most of Merrika on some sort of extra extra long weekend with 4th of July being on a Wednesday this year?
Anyway, this gave me a smile - BA77 has posted a couple of consecutive comments on the "Neuroscientist: Free will is an illusion…” thread. They comprise over 3,000 words his usual dense prose wandering over several topics, and with numerous links including one back to UD and two to his own YouTube videos. So it's business as usual at UD, although in a great piece of product placement kairosfocus immediately follows up with:

Especially considering that you kind of have to actually read their stuff before doing that.

UD has devolved to a dozen half-wits babbling about jesus and abortion and Objective Morality. It's still occasionally fun, though. :-)

Behe is trying his level best to be as big a pimple on the ass of scientific knowledge as Meyer is and Dembski was.  Evolution works by modifying what already exists so if you define that as "devolving" or getting worse then of course life is "devolving".

What a sad little man Behe has become, prostituting his scientific training and knowledge to con a few IDiot mouth-breathers out of their $$ with another science-free propaganda book.

So is that why they keep trying to wit-ness to everybody?

(Or should that be witless to everybody?)

Anyway.

I reckon "devolve" would be diminishing of a feature that has become less useful than it used to be? (Presumably due to changes in the environment, or perhaps migration to a different environment.)

I'm guessing you're not going to pay Behe to find out that's what he's going on about?

If the starting point of evolution is a ‘simple single cell’, and they can’t demonstrate that starting point, they’re cheating.

They have brought a store bought cake to a bake-off.

it's wrong anyway. You can have a theory of gravity without an explanation of where mass came from, you can have a theory of electromagnetics without explaining how the big bang produced electrons, you can have a theory of how germs cause polio without an explanation of how germs evolved. 'The creationist' is just a typical dumbass.

Yeah. Physics pretty much has at have at least one level where it's descriptions of what's been observed or measured. When physics advances, that level moves to smaller and smaller things, but it's still there (matter -> molecules -> atoms -> protons and neutrons -> quarks -> quantum "particles" -> ?).

The (or at least “one”) hypothesized next level, after quarks, is “Preons”.

Thanks, Alan. The MN/PN issue was central to our arguments during the Kansas Science Standards battles, so I feel on solid ground responding to kf's paranoid "materialism is everywhere" concerns.

No, I did not miss the main point. I disagree with your main point: that is different.

Millions of people do not believe that, to put it succinctly, MN entails PN. I think they are right, and you are wrong.

That is not “missing the point.”

I wonder if there's a term for someone who's not able to understand that they might be wrong.

Mullings Syndrome. I understand that it is chronic and incurable. But, thankfully, only contagious amongst homophobic creationists.
