I decided to look at "Atom the Immortal"'s blog site and found these...er...lyrics, I suppose:
Quote
Open the wisdom that's been told from the days of old Unfold the dinosaur descriptions in the book of Job Behold the king of all the beast upon the face of the globe Pyrotechnically bestowed and ferocious and bold Stronger than King Kong his eyes are red like the dawn... Fire and steam from nostrils if you jostle this collosel [sic] then he might get hostile We believe these proportions describe dinosaurs that lived among men such as Stegasaraurus [!] remembered as dragons is how there [sic] reported Recorded through time every culture supports it
Power and strength of behemoth swinging his tail like a cedar log Head above the treetops a herbivore who eats grass like an ox He can never be caught he lives in lakes and lochs Among the lotus plants and reeds is where this monster rocks [ah, the famed Loch lotus ] Just another unknown like the Yeti and Sasquatch  Bones like bronze, he's the chief of the ways of God [?] No one can threaten him or catch him off guard Stone reliefs of these fabulous [maybe he means they're FAH-bu-lous rather than mythical] beasts from Hercules to the dragon Jason battled for the Golden Fleece I know it's hard to conceive what ancient people believed but every culture agrees from the Greek to Chinese Feathered serpents with wings, the Basilisk and the Sphinx, the Hydra, Chimera and the Griffin and Banshee [rhyming "Chinese " with "Banshee" was a stroke of genius]
So take your radiometric decay and your carbon 14 and just put it away We won't be swayed from the truth by your nonsense We will protest and request you change contents and recognize that you built your claims on pretense and admit that evolution is a myth of pseudoscience Some scientists wont admit that being athiest [:p] could make them biased when interpreting the evidence.

Now that's ART.

Yo, so word up scientist ho's -- quit your lyin' and defiance of the LORD.
The dragons of Job are like the bombardier beetle, you'll get bitch-slapped when you whine and wheedle 'cause God's gonna teach you 'bout the camel and needle.
Don't jostle this collosel, 'cause He might get hostile! (don't sweat me about spelling, I'm a f___in' artist, dammit)

DM: Did you happen to look at his list of heroes? Pretty peculiar for a potential ID'er who can talk to the young:Che, Sub-comandante Marcos . . . oh and that should be 'tha' immortal. Next time you're in Vegas come out and rhyme with us. Anyone rhyming needle and wheedle deserves a free hookah and a shot. . . and that's a waterpipe hookah, suh, not a working girl. ;)

Indeed, the only way to gauge the extent to which one person loves another is by what that person is willing to endure for the other. Without the cost incurred by suffering, love among fallen creatures becomes cheap and self-indulgent.

Hoo boy, this sounds familiar.

"Love among fallen creatures becomes cheap and self-indulgent"?

What a crock. And how sad.

He mentions a family illness too. This is the third time I've heard of it. Well, I'm truly sorry that he's having problems (is it his son, do you know, Wes?) but I don't believe that suffering, while inevitable, is our lot in life. I wonder if he's trying to justify something to himself that's painful. 'Cause I've seen that before. :(

This kind of thinking becomes a vicious circle, unfortunately: suffering builds character, etc. My father thought that, and at the end of his life thought that he had to "suffer as Christ suffered" (his very words) and didn't want to take his medication until his pastor talked him out of that kind of thinking.

Hmmm. Where to start?

Firstly; do you seriously consider that Bullock’s argument hangs together?

He makes two major claims; that evolutionary biology is a religion

Robin

After you made me bother to start fisking your screed against Bullock the first thing I did was look for where he equates evolutionary biology to religion. What I found was that the word “biology” never even appears in Bullock’s article.

If you want to remain a critical participant here you had better not make any more false accusations like that again.

Of course, Bullock's article completely supports Levett's assertion:
Quote
Two scientific explanations of origins, each a tenet of sincere religious beliefs, and both important in the field of origins science... The wall of separation-cum-segregation between churches by the state permits the government to separate favored religious ideas (such as materialistic naturalism) for special treatment, the special treatment being state protection from any disfavored challenger. Darwinism, where evidence is interpreted based solely on religious naturalism (or scientific naturalism—there’s no difference), acceptable. Anything else, including Jefferson’s “creator of man”, unacceptable.

Question for the panel:  Could DaveScot really be stupid enough to misinterpret Bullock's article?  Or is he scared of Levett and looking for an excuse to hit the 'ban' button?

While granting that Davey is simultaneously stupid, dishonest, and cowardly, I think cowardice is the driving force in this instance.

It looks like talk.origins has been hacked. AFAICT this site has never contained any advertising except a link to the panda's thumb for years. See www.archive.org for snapshots of it in the past.  I would advise everyone to be on the lookout for anyone  with any or all of the following attributes: a grudge against Wesley; a history of threatening him or his sites with hacking; personal experience of the damage that delisting can cause; and an inability to  suppress his or her glee at the delisting.

;)  added for legal reasons.

Ah, and how they bleat about c*nsorship.

Let's recap.

No science posts on UD since, well, forever
But no shortage of explicitly theistic posts
Legal defeats galore.

The end always turns nasty. Hacking is of course cowardly. And illegal. And ultimatley futile.

ID is a decapitated chicken; body still moving, though in no constructive direction.

According to De Tard himself the domain owner for the hack is in Russia. Not that means much. They are likely hackers for hire.

Umm. could be.

Lehigh's Department of Biological Sciences has this little disclaimer:

The faculty in the Department of Biological Sciences is committed to the highest standards of scientific integrity and academic function. This commitment carries with it unwavering support for academic freedom and the free exchange of ideas. It also demands the utmost respect for the scientific method, integrity in the conduct of research, and recognition that the validity of any scientific model comes only as a result of rational hypothesis testing, sound experimentation, and findings that can be replicated by others.

The department faculty, then, are unequivocal in their support of evolutionary theory, which has its roots in the seminal work of Charles Darwin and has been supported by findings accumulated over 140 years. The sole dissenter from this position, Prof. Michael Behe, is a well-known proponent of "intelligent design." While we respect Prof. Behe's right to express his views, they are his alone and are in no way endorsed by the department. It is our collective position that intelligent design has no basis in science, has not been tested experimentally, and should not be regarded as scientific.

So, he is a professor of the department, but he is indeed considered to be a 'heretic'; the rest of the faculty members regarding intelligent design as not scientific.

And, by the way: have you noticed it's a fine full moon to night? (at least as seen from here, where I sit)

Krauze

They were hacked. See Elsberry’s post for more details.

Wesley claims to have been hacked. We don’t know that and from the tone of his comment neither does he. We don’t know how many people have legitimate webmaster access to the talkorigins website.

Lemme get this straight. Wesley finds out his page now has animal porn links and they appear to trace back to russia. And he doesn't know he's been hacked? That's retarded, even for Davetard.

D'OL! writes on several difficult topics. One of them concerns John Searle's thoughts on consciousness.

Quote
3. John Searle on the hard problem of human consciousness (hard if you are a materialist): “We know from high school physics that in presenting an equation you have to be referring to the same dimension on both of its sides. The equation one dollar = one hundred cents can work because both sides are sums of money. But you couldn’t have one hundred cents = one month, because cents and months are in different dimensions. Mind and brain appear to be in different dimensions, because mind has qualitative subjectivity and brain does not.”

Searle has written extensively and influentially on consciousness and intentionality over the last 20 years. While recognizing the difficulties inherent in discussing consciousness, he also analogizes the "mind-brain problem" to the "digestion-stomach" problem (I'll get a reference when I have at my library), taking a thorougly monist position: consciousness and intentionality are biological facts. I nominate her suggestion, by means of selective quotation, that Searle is supportive of mind-body dualism for the D'OL! hall of uncommon density.

Humphrey, in 1976, originated the influential and hueristic hypothesis that the most significant selection pressure driving the evolution of large brain size in primates was the advantage conferred by the anticipation and representation of others’ behavior in the context of intensely competitive primate social hierarchies. Whiten and Byrne later codified as the "Machiavellian Intelligence" hypothesis, which has since given rise to a huge and important literature on the origins of human "theory of mind" (the indisputable evolutionary basis for the ability of human beings to construe others as displaying beliefs, desires, intentions, states of attention, etc.). So a second nomination: D'OL!'s suggestion that Humphrey was somehow "handicapped" by evolutionary models, when in fact it was his evolutionary perspective that leveraged his most important contributions, deserves a bust in the hall of uncommon density.

D'OL! concludes her remarks by committing aggravated unintentional irony when she states, "The trouble is, we do not know what we do not know."  Now there she is on to something, as it is clear that she has never read Searle, Humphrey, Freud, etc.

D'OL! here is thinking that the detachable-ghost theory of consciousness doesn't present any "hard problems."

I've been participating in the comments at the weblog of Google's webspam head Matt Cutts on the TOA de-indexing.

Cutts is taking my complaint and using it in a constructive manner. He even went so far as defending me from a commenter who said that I could only have made my complaint through laziness or avarice.

Some genius named 'multi-worded Adam' at that Matt Cutts site came up with this, which I knew I'd see at some point:

The question that remains in my mind in all of this is: how do you know that it was actually hacked? There’s nothing saying that he couldn’t have just put those links in himself. He may own the porn stuff under a different alterego and using the clean site to promote the dirty ones. It’s not that difficult to pull off.

Sort of reminds me of "How do we know John Kerry didn't shoot himself just to win a medal?"

Granted, I expected to see this idea floated at UD first.

I blamed Wesley for getting Uncommon Descent delisted as he was republishing all our content in what might have appeared to google to be a naughty scheme to build page rank.

Now in yet another delisting we find Wesley getting the blame. Once is a coincidence, twice is suspicious…
