I think Joe is worse than AFDave. Did AFDave ever give partial explanations which showed he's wrong, while thinking he's proving himself right?

Did AFDave ever say anything this clueless?

Umm CO2 doesn't trap heat.

Shit, Joe's not even flunking 20th century chemistry here, he's flunking Late-19th century chemistry.

Wow, devastating. CO2 does not trap the heat. IR makes it vibrate and unless all of the CO2 is pointing the right way such that the vibration sends the re-radiated heat back to earth there isn't any trapping. There isn't even enough in the atmosphere to trap the heat.

Holy Fucking Shit that is dumb.

Heat IS vibration of molecules you fantastic dolt. IR is among the ranges in the electromagnetic spectrum that causes vibrations of certain chemical bonds, such as the C=O bond in CO2.

Infrared Spectroscopy

This is high-school level physical/chem stuff for fucks sake.

:O  :p

(ETA: Or, at least, he doesn't realize how badly he's embarrassing himself. The day he figures that out, nobody will ever hear from his pseudonym Joe G again.)

If frequency = wavelength, probabilities can be not even zero, and no physicist understands how orbits work, I don't see why heat can be something other than molecular vibration.  All hail Joescience!

So frequency which is interchangeable with vibration now has direction!!!!

Thus wavelength is interchangeable with radiation direction.

So is it the molecules that happen to be horizontal that do the trapping, or is it the ones that happen to be vertical?

Context matters.  Your position can't even explain pointing.

Depends on the time of day or night. When they lie down at night they're horizontal but if you are out in space sometimes they seem to be standing up.

If you are going to P-A-R-O-D-Y Joe, a nice touch is to add "homophobic assmuncher" after the unaware self denouement.

I doubt if the angle of the molecule has much correlation with time of day.

I don't think so.  For a long time I thought he was just a troll and an attention whore, but I've decided he's too dumb for that.  He geniunely thinks he's winning.

 He genuinely thinks he's winning.

Which is kind of amazing. His knowledge of science would flunk a high school science final, but day after day he comes here and lectures actual scientists in utterly clueless ways. He must think he's winning, or he wouldn't keep at it. If he could see what he looked like to a knowledgeable person....

The one consistant thing about Joe is his very short attention span and his inability to grok simple science.

Um... make that two things.

I blame his elementary school teachers lack of infinite patience and their desire to have a life rather than be insulted by a complete moron. That and Google for making him think he knows shit.
