This request came through the back-channels of the Evil Darwinist Conspiracy:
Quote
I am trying to get hold of two brief creationist clips for teaching purposes.  They are the infamous "banana" and "peanut butter" videos, which can be seen at YouTube and other sites:

Banana http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zwbhAXe5yk
Peanut butter

I'm unable to get these as stand-alone clips in an mpeg or mov format. Does anybody have these?

Thanks,
Jerry Coyne

Can anyone help?  I'll pass this link on to Prof Coyne

When I read the title of the thread, I thought you were looking for this:

It's Peanut Butter Jelly Time

Or maybe this

The one I'd love to get is Buddy Davis singing "billions of dead things". I've tried both You Tube and God Tube and can't find anything. You know the song I mean......the hymn/chorus about flood geology based on Ham's quote.

Although, it's probably on one of his CDs.

I do this sort of thing a lot and it's easy when you get the hang

1. first you download the .flv file. All youtube videos are in .flv format. Before I go further, .flv files aren't as useless as they appear to be. "Media Player Classic" will play these files directly, and I no longer bother to convert them to more common formats. I recommend you use MPC to play ALL your media files. If you google for the "CCCP" codec pack, I recommend you install that, and MPC comes included. And if you find "real player alternative" you can throw away %$#@! realplayer, and "quick time alternative" means you can ditch quicktime (MPC now plays utterly everything).

my procedure: use Mozilla Firefox, for which there are many easy-to-install add-ons. Find the add-on called "cacheviewer" (use tools/add-ons). Videodownloader was easier but it doesn't seem to work anymore. With cacheviewer installed (and, strongly recommended, "flashblock") clear your cache (tools, clear private data), load the youtube page, then use tools/cacheviewer to see the file that is now in your memory cache (with flashblock, load the page, clear the cache, click on the video and run it, then go to cache view). Your video file will have a cryptic name, but will have the longest length by far (if you want less files to search through, search for the word "you"). Right click the file, and save it somewhere as, say, banana.flv.

2. THE. EASIEST. way to convert files is with SUPER (http://www.erightsoft.com/S6Kg1.html). You drag the input file onto the interface, use the drop-down box to tell it what format you want, and press the go button (check the options so the output file goes somewhere you can find it).
