Ogre, my comment on your blog has been in moderation for hours!

You've been on UD quite too much...

:p

ps: if you find the comment irrelevant*, useless*, or just plain stoopid*, just discard it altogether.

*that's more than possible.

Sorry.  Don't know what happened.  You aren't on the moderation list (which has one entrant).

All better now.

It's really sad.  When Joe takes an interest in my blog, my hits double.

I'm not sure if it's sad for me or sad for him...

Shortly after Ww2, my father got a package from his brother in Seattle. My mother was puzzled over the contents being declared as 'gift'. It was all tobacco...

Is the proper compliment "Louis, you magnificent bastard!"?

It’s no big deal.  You do this all of the time.  However, this time I decided to say something.

"Why not both?"  would be too direct and crass

"mutually exclusive" takes a moment to process; this makes for just the right mental pause.

To use a gaming analogy, whenever I read replies to one of Joe's utterly laughable posts/claims this vision of some incompetent kid playing a war game like Call of Duty on an X-Box appears in my mind. The kid nips out from the respawn point, gets immediately blown to smithereens by his opponent's howitzer and then is serially teabagged for hours by everyone on the server.

The image of Joe's gamer corpse having thousands of virtual balls dropped in it's gaping, dead mouth is about as complimentary as I am capable of being when it comes to Joe's ideas.

Not really. Other than I learned about teabagging in games the other day and it made me laugh so hard I snorted my coffee everywhere. For some reason the very image of one gamer crouching/standing over the fresh "killed" virtual corpse of their enemy amused me greatly.

As it happens I don't own a games console, nor play online games (no time dammit!), so this was a new idea to me. I do have young relatives who do (damn kids, with their hair and video games. Get off my lawn) and they assure me this is commonplace.

I thought it mapped nicely onto our own form of "on-line gaming" (i.e. moron mockery).

What's even better is that, in some online games, your camera blacks out at death and then resumes, but you no longer have control of it.

Often times you are killed, only to reawaken to a digital crotch-fest (which should be a band name, though possibly translated to german, first).

Did Joe lock the comments down (after having the last word)?

I guess he can, it's his blog (that shows a rather unhealthy single focus).  It's just an annoying trick.

Yes he did, rather than admin defeat. He thinks the 'transition' happened on a Wednesday.
