Specified entropy. Wow.

SpEnt, for short.  As in, ID is SpEnt.

Even if ID is spEnt we will have to continue posting here because othewise this will become a place solely devoted to Gary Gaulin.

These guys are delusional!

Speaking on the second or third mined quote on that thread Mapou:
Quote
If Eldredge is still a Darwinist after writing the above, I am forced to speculate that he’s either a gutless coward or he has some kind of mental disorder.

At UD it is: do as we say, not as we do.

Eldredge curated Darwin's anniversary exhibit, and wrote:

1)Eldredge, N. 2000. The Triumph of Evolution….And the Failure of Creationism. W.H. Freeman and Co., N.Y.

and

2) Eldredge, Niles. 2005. Charles Darwin. Discovering the Tree of Life. W.W. Norton, New York.

The companion to the Darwin exhibit--which Eldredge, in his own words, ends with

Quote
"a ringing denunciation of “intelligent design”—finding it yet another creationist wolf-in-sheep’s-clothing, a particularly shrill form of religion masquerading as science."

Bold mine.

Oops, wrong thread.

I think it's the blog software.  I just wrote a message on this board, it displayed here when I saved it, but after I edited it it wound up on the Gary Gaulin thread.

Edited to see if it happens again.  (It's the niwraD message on the Gaulin thread, by the way.)

Edited the edit to say that everything worked normally this time.  Sunspots?  Jesus?  Gaulin Rays?

I don't know - I thought I was posting on the Gaulin thread but as soon as it was posted I found myself here so I guess the fault was all mine.

I posted to this thread, the message appeared here, I edited it and when the board returned from edit, the message and I were on the Gaulin thread.  I don't think it was us doing it.  Maybe Gaulin's theory explains it?

The purpose of the test (until Sal let the cat out of the bag. Thanks Sal),

Actually, at some point I thought to myself, “Barry is testing if we can use our pattern matching skills which we learned in the study of CSI to get at the bottom of who this guy was.”

I actually didn’t know of the report. I started looking at demographic data to make my estimate of whether the guy was a republican or democrat. At the time, I figured this was purely a hypothetical question based on demographic data you had somehow assembled.

I decided to google “republicans gifted debater” to see if demographically republicans had an unusual proportion of gifted debaters. Then I got the hit to the news report, and I thought, “Barry will be so proud of the UD crew for following the evidence where it leads and figuring out the guy was a democrat even though at first glance he looked like a republican. That our detection of the patterns in your description would help us identify the design pattern in your mind, namely the person of Karl Pierson.”

I was actually more worried you’d chide us for not figuring out where the evidence was pointing.

Elsewhere on UD, Barry asks "Why Can’t God Be More Like All the Nice People I Know?". I think a more pressing question is Why Can’t Barry Be More Like All the Nice People I Know?

Wow. Bully's man-crush infatuation with Dr. Matzke is getting downright creepy.  I did like this admission by the 500 lb. IDiot though:

Lawyers are also trained to use all those disgusting and disreputable tactics to argue *for* their position, which explains about 99% of the bullshit Bully posts.

Oddly, they're supposed to be able to recognize actual evidence, and to dispose of lame analogies pretended to be evidence.

Barry fails remarkably there.

To me it does seem that attorneys, whatever one thinks of them otherwise (and who doesn't?  Kidding, really), hardly dominate the ranks of well-known creationists, in spite of Johnson and Luskin.  That the rest would rally around lawyerly bullshit isn't surprising, however.

Granville bullshitting via reductionism:

Quote
The prevailing view in science today is that physics explains all of chemistry, chemistry explains all of biology, and biology completely explains the human mind; thus physics alone explains the human mind and all it does. This is what you have to believe to not believe in intelligent design, that the origin and evolution of life, and the evolution of human consciousness and intelligence, are due entirely to a few unintelligent forces of physics.

Thus you must believe that a few unintelligent forces of physics alone could have rearranged the fundamental particles of physics into computers and science texts and jet airplanes.

No, dumbass, evolution is not the claim that a few unintelligent forces of physics alone created intelligence and its products.  There are numberless events and extremely complex interactions involved, ones that, gee, I don't know, maybe would select for more intelligence among some organisms.

Quote
In spite of the fact that there is no direct evidence that natural selection can explain anything other than very minor adaptations

Oh yeah, except for all of the evidence of DNA sequences under selective pressure, vs. those that were not, the cladistic structure of derivation which follows the limits of unguided evolution, and the numerous cases of mindless adaptation of historical contingencies where an intelligence (the only "alternative" he allows) would have pulled an idea from an unrelated lineage of organisms (think of the three very different vertebrate wings, none of which shows any borrowing from any of the others, only a very remote phylogenetic pattern).

So, ignore all of the evidence, then there is none.  If you're a stunted bozo like Granville.

Slimy Sal comes up with another gem! :p

The Fundamental Law of Intelligent Design:

When one IDiot dreams up a bogus probability number using incorrect modeling and values pulled straight from his ass, all the other IDiots will get a woody and declare yet again that evolution is impossible.

Seriously, is there not one of those fuckwits who understands that you can't come up with a probability of results for an iterative feedback process like biological evolution using simple combinatorial probabilities?

Dumbass Bully still doesn't get it.

Quote
Bully Arrogant: If you came across a table on which was set 500 coins (no tossing involved) and all 500 coins displayed the “heads” side of the coin, would you reject “chance” as a hypothesis to explain this particular configuration of coins on a table?

Bully, suppose before you arrived there was a bored kid playing a game with the coins that involved iterative steps with feedback.  Unknown to you (so you have seen no tossing involved) he started by flipping all 500 coins.  Coins that came up "heads" were dead - out of the game - and left on the table.  Coins that came up "tails" were re-tossed.  The step was repeated until there were no "tails" anymore.  When that happened the kid left all 500 "heads" coins on the table. It only took a few dozen rounds to get the result yet in every step each "head" was the result of random chance.

If he played the game again what is the probability all the coins would eventually end up heads?  The answer depends on how long he played.  The more rounds played the probability asymptotically approaches 1.0

Once again for the IDiots - you can't compute the probability of an iterative feedback process just from examining the end results.  You have to take into account the effect of the feedback itself, especially one that builds on previous positive results like evolution does.

Not to be outdone, PaV shows he can still bring the stupid with the best of 'em.

Quote
PaV: An expert in “frog evolution” has demonstrated that frogs in different continents “evolved” the same sorts of characteristics. Now just ask yourself: what are the odds that “evolution,” which works via random processes, would “evolve” the same kinds of characteristics on different continents?

Evolution still doesn't work just by random processes PaV.  It works with random processes filtered by non-random selection and fed back into future generations.  That's why animals with similar environmental pressures often evolve similar morphological solutions.  How many dozens of times have you had that explained to you?

Quote
Isn’t it amazing how “random forces” can make distinguishable frogs ‘indistinguishable’?

Still too stupid to understand the "selection" part.

Quote
Why is it “poorly studied”? Because Darwinists run the show. IDers would have stumbled upon–actually have gone looking for–this type of pattern long ago.

So what's stopping you PaV?  Besides your willful  ignorance and laziness?
