The "I'm an utter asshole, fortunately belief in god keeps me in line" statement always amazes me. Not only are you calling yourself an asshole, you're indicting your parents, because they must not have raised you right.
It does pop up with discouraging regularity.
That's not the amazing thing. The amazing thing is that they *brag* about only being kept from being amoral predatory scumbags by the threat of cosmic punishment. I'm not clear why they think this reflects well on them.
Second most amazing thing: they always reserve their worst contempt for people who behave well without threats from the Invisible Sky Monster:
