next time they go off talking about Natural Law blah blah, this might be a good part of someone's response:

Ah, but they were all Democrats!

there's a right-of-center blog i visit where the resident RWNJ has been trying to get mileage of the fact that Kim Davis, like a lot of people in southern local politics, for primary-runoff historical reasons is registered as a Democrat.

He's not the brightest knife in the drawer.

Apparently it's a family tradition.
She followed her mother and hired her son.

Apropos nothing, and feck the stereotypes:

A sibling reminded me of this wonderful and insightful bit of sports analysis from the Gaelic football Sunday Game programme back in the day.

The chap with the Kerry accent you could slice and butter is Pat Spillane, a veteran of a legendary team from the 1970s. He speaks from long and hard-won experience.

Thank heavens, he left Norway out.

Please give GG posting rights to Mr ID's thread.

Gary ran out of steam a long time ago. And Postrado, unlike Gary, can form comprehensible sentences. The Postrado thread is going to wind up being better than Gary's thread ever could be, except to those connoisseurs of interesting word usement structuring.

Postrado, unlike Gary, can form comprehensible sentences.

You are joking, right?

I apologize in advance, it has been a long year.

well, let's get some Postrado here:

Quote
Thus, forgive me for my bad grammars but I think most of my posts are understandable. I wish that you or anyone of you who has perfect grammars could discover the real intelligence, but this discovery was put onto my shoulder. What should I do? I had to do it alone since you never yet buy my science books or send me grants for support. SEND ME GRANTS, TAXES and SUPPORTS and I will reedit all my books to satisfy your language. And see how those discoveries could blow your scientific and intellectual minds!

I maintain that this is a recognizable variant of English. Gary Gaulin Gibberish might be English-inspired, but only in some vague and mysterious way.

There were some hours earlier today in which my attempts to connect to PT didn't connect. When I did get a connection, there were only 8 replies on it since last night.

What's especially bizarre with Carson's "theory" is that the age of the pyramids isn't even close to when Joseph might have been in Egypt.  Joseph would have been New Kingdom at the earliest, not Old Kingdom or Middle Kingdom, when the pyramids were built.

I mean, clearly Carson's not worried about the science and facts, but you'd think he'd at least care about Bible chronology.  He doesn't even get that right, though.

It infuriates me that people this insane are elected to political office here in the USA. If nutcase Ben Carson gets the republitard nomination I won't be surprised if he chooses this wacko for his running mate.

The English language and me:

Every day I struggle with language. My own is no problem, even if grammar was 'Greek' to me, meaning incomprehensible when at age 12-13 we were taught grammar, but I didn't get it. Subject, Object, Plusquamperfektum, I couldn't have been more bored.

But English - has and have is a recurrent problem. When in doubt, which to chose?

And yet, it took me no time to get all green taking the has/have test at

http://www.ecenglish.com/learnen....and-has

It is in my nature to want to have everything in its proper place - maybe working with complex machines where every part had to be in its proper place molded me?

Norwegian. In passing, I just want to remark on what I recently learned from the TV: Many words in the English language have their root in the language of the Vikings.

If I were addicted to hypocricy or something, I might say "Look, that's what made the English such a great nation - the Viking DNA;)

But attempting to be objective, it really looks to me like there's something about the Scandinavians. I think it can be atttributed to climate and geography.

No hubris, but maybe that has rendered us a little different? But heck, every nation have their own idiosyncracies. I find the English fascinating, how they are using their language.

End of rant. (At 85, I have nothing better to do.)

Did we lose both Eddie Postmodern and Otangelo already?

They don't make 'em like they used to.

Indeed. The mere 'existence' of dinos and children's fascination with them represent valuable support for evolution.

Teach children about dinosaurs and tickle their curiosity to learn more. Jesus can wait till they are thirteen.

Question for the computer experts.

Did humans design the complexity of the internet? Or is that complexity an emergent feature of the human designed TCP/IP, http, DNS, and other systems.

If so, would this be a reasonable attack on the complexity required of ID proponents. Obviously, parts of the system had a designer, but the internet did not and it is highly complex. That complexity is an emergent property of otherwise simple systems.

Alternately, what about Conway's Game of Life?
