On that Freeman Dyson thread Davetard gets into his support from solar power from space and ethanol from bacteria. Those are technologically interesting ideas, but there's no reason for Davetard to support them. Since he doesn't believe in global warming he should support the much cheaper option of just burning coal. Also, launch costs currently prohibit the former and various problems the latter.

Me, I like solar thermal energy. I was shocked recently to read that Solar thermal energy plants which met all our existing demand could be built with existing technology for less than the cost of the iraq war.

It's simple, really.

1. Swallow coffee.
2. Set cup down.
3. Read AtBC UD thread.

Why can't I learn???

EXITING NEWS HOMOS!

WHILE I WAS TRYING TO DESIGN A CARBON NEUTRAL BIOCHAINSAW  .....THAT’S WHERE I CROSSED A SAWFISH WITH AN ARMADILLO...WELL ACTUALLY I WAS CHEATING A BIT I TOOK MY STUFFED ARMADILLO WHICH WAS GETTING A BIT MOTH EATEN AND RESTUFFED IT WITH MY STIHL  090 AND REPLACED THE BAR WITH THE BIGGEST SAWFISH NOSE IN MY RARE COLLECTION OF SAWFISH NOSES ....BUT YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW.

BACK TO THE SCIENCE...

MY FIRST SUCCESS WITH DESIGNING CARBON GULPING NANO TECH  BACTERIA IS WORLD BEATING.

I TOOK SOME MOULD FROM MY FRIDGE AND PUT IT IN A MODIFIED PETRI DISH.

AND GUESS WHAT I FED THEM?

GRAVITY!!!

THAT'S RIGHT HOMOS THE HEAVY ONES FELL TO THE BOTTOM AND THE REALLY LIGHT ONES FLOATED TO THE TOP AND IT WAS ALL RANDOM CHANCE SELECTION!!

ONCE THEY OVERCOME SURFACE TENSION AND FLY I'LL BE RICH!!!!

I CALLED MICHEAL DELL TO SEE IF HE WANTED TO INVEST BUT ALL I GOT WAS A PALM READER IN GALVESTON....HE MUST HAVE CHANGED HIS NUMBER.

WISH ME LUCK WITH THE PATENT. dt

Denyse tries to come to grips with the demise of the ISCID:

ID organizations to watch - or not

Some people have wondered why there is so little activity at ID think tank ISCID these days.

One thing I have noticed about the intelligent design community is that - because it operates largely without funds - when the creativity and energy go out of a given project, it starts to obviously decline.

Contrast that, if you like, with an institutional structure where a government-funded paper mill that outlived its mandate fifty years ago can bumble along indefinitely at taxpayer expense, with 50 employees making work for themselves.

Darwinists, the two ID organizations to hate and obsess about at this point are said to be Biologic Institute and Evolutionary Informatics Lab, both of which are research programs.

Of course, someone may well come along and kickstart ISCID again, but my sense is that people are tired of just talking and are more into doing things now.    [emphasis mine]

Because, as everyone knows, you can't publish and do research at the same time.

Wow. Wow.

And by Denyse-logic, if ISCID starts publishing papers again, that will be proof that IDers have stopped doing research.

Indeed. And we all know you don't need some fancy-pants journal to call Darwinists Nazis.

What I'm most amused by is Denyse's earnest efforts to spin IDers' not publishing research as a good thing.

What I get from her and FtK is that they have so little understanding of science, that they don't understand the relationship between (as Kuhn would term them) revolutionary and normal science, viz., that a scientific revolution is valuable insofar as it leads to new research and the solution to previously intractable problems. Their concept of science is unintelligible to people who know something about the topic. That's kind of what makes them fascinating.

Bonus question: Why evolution? Why not thermodynamics or airplane engineering or something?

Dave should be on the commission because

A.  Dave is an alien
B.  He could shoot it and then have his dogs eat it
C.  It wants to have his baby
D.  The alien has the secret to cold-fusion for houseboats
E.  The alien dresses better than Dembski - and it is still allowed into the Baylor cafeteria.  And the alien wouldn't kick him off the Super Secret List serve, even if Denyse begged him to.

She knocked it off the sill;
Stacey found the pieces just
As time stood still.

Time rolled backwards;

And fit itself together
And poured itself a cup.

Weeks run backwards
But the strangest thing we saw
Is, Kitty’s just a kitten now,
A-wailing for her ma.

I have read every "peer-reviewed" article in ISCID, in the vain hope of finding one actual positive research paper. It didn't happen when ISCID was active, and it hasn't happened after it was moth-balled. So what the hell is O'Leary saying? ISCID was all talk, no research. Now it is no talk, no reseach.

Dave Tard just wants a new paradigm for science .....the 1/2 hour stage debate, preferably a mass media one where the great unwashed decides the winner with a truthiness meter.

He's already doing it, except it's a bit one sided now that he has actually gagged the opposing team with his ban bone. That improves his outcomes no end since his only peers left are the UD fruit loops.

I call his new paradigm....peer circular massdebating onstage with fruit loops and no pushback.

Will somebody pleeeaze go to Rupert Sheldrake's 'scienfic paper' "Testing a Language - Using a Parrot for Telepathy" and take a photo of Table 1 and post it here?  You won't be disappointed.

Special thanks to DaveScot for bringing Dr. Sheldrake to my attention and to google for finding this fine piece of ID research.  ID science is not solely religious in nature.  A lot of it is just whacked.

PS: Denyse, please don't! work with parrots!  The world is not quite ready for your data.
