Stephen Green, national director of the evangelical group Christian Voice, is challenging a refusal by District Judge Caroline Tubbs at the City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court in January to issue a summons for the start of a private prosecution against Mark Thompson, the Director-General of the BBC, who allowed the controversial show to be screened on BBC2. read it here. You can buy his DVD's here http://www.gofasterstripe.com/ And very very good they are too. His last show responded to the Christians who originally tried to bring a "proper" prosecution by incorporating Jesus into his act, and what they got up to after a night down the pub. Lets put it this way - you'd rather throw the towels away then try and wash them. As to the prosecution - Not a chance in hell! I mean, Viz magazine (for purile humour!) runs a strip every month about Jesus and his Dad. And Viz certainly does "offensive, spiteful, systematic mockery and wilful denigration of Christian belief” every month! -------------- I also mentioned that He'd have to give me a thorough explanation as to *why* I must "eat human babies". FTK if there are even critical flaws in Gauger’s work, the evo mat narrative cannot stand Gordon Mullings

As Nash points out, in the years since the Gay News case, the issue of blasphemy has resurfaced, most notably in the Rushdie affair, but also in relation to the actions of the British Board of Film Censors and their refusal to grant a certificate to the film Visions of Ecstasy. Moreover, in recent years – and especially in the wake of the controversy over The Satanic Verses - the focus of debate has tended to shift towards discussion of the inequality of the existing blasphemy laws in their failure to protect the religious sensibilities of religious believers other than Christians. Thus recent discussion of the law on blasphemy has often proposed that modernisation of the law might mean its extension rather than its abolition. The danger thus remains that religious groups – especially those acting ‘from below’, from the grassroots – might seek to move the law on blasphemy yet further in a threatening or restrictive direction. My daughter, who grew up with CDs, had never even heard of LPs til about 4 years ago. For some time she referred to them as 'big CDs'. She was very weirded out when I told her they had two sides. Quote This is quite simply a brilliant and stunningly funny piece of retaliation. Lee and his co-writer, Richard Thomas, were at one point facing trial for blasphemy, 'but the court threw it out, on the grounds that it's not 1508'. Facing blasphemy charges for a piece of light entertainment, Lee decides to really knock himself out, and the second part of the show is a long monologue detailing a vision of Christ in his mother's downstairs toilet that makes The Osbournes look like a children's show. Lee is an extremely talented actor, and his fury is measured and controlled, but in his carefully timed pauses you can hear the audience holding its breath. Don't see this if you thought Jerry Springer, The Opera insulted Jesus.
