I'm not complaining, it's a beta release, but javascript buttons and dialog boxes are not working well yet. So for instance I can't post links here using the buttons. That's why i'm using the 'code' boxes. Still it's quite fast, though it has slowed down a bit after 2 weeks. I might need to clear some hidden cache or something.

@KF

Keep up the good work here at UD KF; you’d be surprised as to just how many people think ID is is a viable explanation for the origin of life.. I hear it from people all the time.

F/N: While, occasionally issues of theology, exegesis or Bible text etc come up at UD, let us remember the actual focus of this thread. Namely, a claimed knock-down answer to the design inference:

Still building that strawman up higher I see. Please go to my original comment and point out where I made any such claim. You can access it from the link Barry put in the OP. Well, you could if Barry actually put a link rather than just quote mine.

But, being the honest man that you claim to be, I’m sure that an apology, or a retraction, will follow shortly now that I have applied this corrective.

Oh silly little Armand Jacks.

Of course, the above saying a dismissive but fallacious assertion over and over does not lend it the truth it never had to begin with. Blah, blah, blah.

BS. An inference is either logically sound or it is not. Putting a bunch of words around it does not change this. Since my inference is identical to yours, just seen from the opposite side, either they are both logically sound or they are not. It has already been pointed out by UB that mine assumes it’s own conclusion. Which it does. As does yours.

Now, I expect a response with a bunch of accusations, followed by a cut and pasta fest that would put Bornagain77 to shame. But none of that changes the fact that the inference you have been using for years is fatally flawed.

Uncommon Descent Lies Again

The blog Uncommon Descent is, of course, one of the two main propaganda arms of the intelligent design movement --- the other one being "Evolution News". Since the ID movement is essentially based on religious dogma and deception, it's no surprise that these blogs have a large amount of fake content. But I am always surprised at how shamelessly they mislead.

ronvanwegan, ffs, go and have a cup of tea.

Wow. UD is supposedly the premier site of the “science” of intelligent design? What a cluster fuck.

For context ronvanwegan's comment is #7 on the current FFT- worldviews level challenge thread.
Unlike recent form, KF doesn't censor the comment; merely adds a brief (for him) corrective.

Is this the old Kairos favourite of suggesting there is objective right, and wrong, or am I once again, hopelessly off topic? The objective right, of course being grounded in scripture, and not just any old scripture, but Biblical scripture, and specifically Jesus centred New Testament ‘objectavism.

And just a piece of advice Kairos; when you write, “but to avoid making this utterly too long…”, perhaps you should understand what those words mean.

And, I can answer AJ’s question; Kairos expects the type of world which is ant-diluvian, a pre-fall world, a Garden of Eden world. All the while missing the point that we are evolved selfish beings, who upon rare occasions stumble upon goodness.

AJ, With all due respect, you side-stepped the answers already there in both the OP and my reply, including what I cited from Plato et al.

There was no answer in amongst that mass of verbiage. let me repeat the question again:
Quote

If we assume that there is no world-root IS to ground OUGHT, what type of world would you expect us to live in?

The answer should start with, “In my opinion, a world where there is no world-root IS to ground OUGHT would look like ___”.

The answer should not be more than a short paragraph in length. It is a simple question. It only needs a simple answer.

Armand Jacks: KF, unfortunately, you are now showing a habitual rhetorical pattern of claiming to have answered questions that it is patently obvious you did not answer. And in the AJ thread you repeated the lie stated in the OP that I claimed to have a knock down refutation of ID. When called on this you refused to acknowledge your error. A lie of ommision. These are examples of you speaking with disregard to the truth (lying) that anyone can confirm.

You can prove me wrong by simply linking to the comment that answered my very simple question. Or linking to the comment where you admit that I never claimed to have a knock down refutation of ID.

Let’s try to start again and see if you have any shred of honesty. If we assume that there is no world-level IS to ground OUGHT, what would the resulting world look like? I am looking for your opinion, not clips of Plato. Your opinion.

Your response to this will be very informative. My gut feeling is that you will avoid the question and delete this comment. Possibly request that I be banned. But I am an optimist. I would like to think that you are basically honest and will respond accordingly. Fingers crossed.

AJ, it is now too late for you. You kept up the reprobate rhetorical patter5n one time too many. This is just a notice. KF

KF, all I have done is ask you to answer a simple question or prove the claim you have made that you have already answered it. You and I, and all onlookers, know that you can’t do the latter. If the reputation of a liar is one that you are comfortable with, that is your choice. Alternately you could simply take the effort to actually answer the question.

For the life of me, I can’t fathom why you would refuse to answer this question, and lie about answering it. But, it is your reputation. Not mine.

Too late for what? To admit that you made an error? I always thought that it was never too late for that.

You are a real mystery. You accuse other people of lying at the drop of a hat. But when it is pointed out that you have made a false statement about someone, one that can be confirmed by anyone here, you go on the attack. Rather than admit an honest error, something that we all do, you go into lock-down denial mode and blame me for it.

Although kf wrote in the same thread (comment 15) " It is obviously a satirical summary of the implications of amorality let loose. I suggest that is the issue that needs to be soberly addressed instead of setting up a needless side track,", which is probably close to the truth. He then defended ronvanwegen in post 19 (including quoting the whole post).

TBH, had ronvanwegen come back and acknowledged that his post was satirical, I wouldn't have had a big problem with it. His error wasn't what he was trying to say, but the way he executed it.

Hm. executed might not be the best word to use in this context :-)

In any case the dead hand of ID smote its own mote with its own appendage. If k.f. ever cheerfully embraces an  "obvious satire" then it might be a win for art over objectivism. When as the arab trader's dhow of african misery sails over the central atlantic meridian to the caribbean slave markets exchanging mere gold for souls of god's unwanted then maybe he can find a little humour in abject humidity.
