As a Dembski-trained IDiot, I have to say that my metaphysical insight suggests this is no mere coincidence and that the odds of it happening are 3.756 X 10^97 based on the CSI of the scenario. My Kung-Fu Grip GI Joe agrees ( they're not dolls, either -- Josh Bozeman assured me of this)

**Disclaimer:** I didn't mean to imply that my Mom's basement was "he11's dark heart," although it seems like it lately, what with Mom not having spoken to me in almost 2 years as she sits in the corner in her rocking chair. She refuses to move, but she keeps staring at me with her accusing eyes. Her huge, cavernous accusing eyes that follow me everywhere now.

Check out the part of Bozoman's website that lists all the women he thinks are beautiful.  It's kind of sad seeing the masturbatory fantasies of a 28 year old man being announced online.  There are lots of Thai and African-american women on his list.  I'm sure Evansville has a plethora of that type of lady for him.  He seems very stunted in his development (probably in more than one way, too).  I'm glad I got out of my parents' house as soon as I could after turning 18, got an education, got a job, got a family, etc.  Bozoman seems like a pitiful waste of carbohydrates, fat, protein, water, and oxygen.  At least he's one person I can feel sufficiently superior to and can mock in order to help my own self esteem.

Well I notice that [Josh Bozeman's] site seems very evasive about what, if anything, he does for a living. It says "Occupation: Media/Television", which could mean he's a temp at a TV station, given that he does not have any college degree. We are talking Evansville, Indiana here.

It's even better than that, Arden -- he works at a public TV station, cuing up programs for transmission.  That means that when he's not playing Mr. Bean reruns, he's subjected to nonstop librul proppyganda on the PBS feed.  Perhaps there is a God after all.

Talking of banned commenters, is there anyone still able to post at Uncommon Descent (Chris or Bob, perhaps) who might post a link there to see if Dave is interested in genuinely discussing his views on climate change in an open forum.

RE: DaveTard's monologue on global climate change.
Why does DaveTard have to be the know-all and end-all on every subject he discusses?  He is always 100% right (in his mind) on everything without ever acknowledging his own limitations or allowing any alternate (and usually more correct) views.  I've known a few people in my life like him and couldn't stand being around them.  If he acts like this outside of the internet, he probably lives a very lonely, sad life.  All his bluster and bravado is not enough to hide the true insecurities and inadequacies that lie underneath.  I truly feel sorry for his wife, if he acts like this outside of the computer.  After his comment about all the women wanting him to impregnate them a while ago, I feel even more sorry for his wife.  To be stuck with an arrogant, self-righteous, delusional hack who thinks he is the designer's gift to women must be a very challenging thing if you truly believe in honoring your wedding vows.

The Shermer/Dembski debate has become the occasion for bracing scientific discussion over at UD. This discussion demonstrates the powerful heuristic value of the ID paradigm within a scientific context.  Many of these questions would never even be entertained by those who are blinded by materialism. Examples:

- Are all YECs rude? Or just the rude ones?
- Does Salvador understand prophecy?
- Are Dr. Dembski’s views unbiblical? If so, should he be confronted?
- How much trust should we bestow upon persons who claim infallibility?
- Why do science if reading and interpreting God’s Word is sufficient?
- Is not physics awaiting a new science or theological interpretation to reconcile quantum theory and relativity?
- What facts overturn a plain reading of the bible?  What happens when the facts change tomorrow?
- What does Luke 3:23-37 mean?
- Did trilobites co-exist with size-12 leather-soled shoes, heels slightly worn?
- Has anything as dramatic as homo sapiens appeared since they first appeared?
- If humans were the last major species, how did the writers of the bible know this?
- What does Romans 1:20 mean?
- So, we find another extinct organism. What if we should find that that is not extinct?
- Was Antarctica a warm place once upon a time and then we had global cooling?
- How do you know what the time span was from Adam and Eve to the “fall” and beginning of their progeny?

And the final, telling scientific question:

- Why do some willfully refuse to recognize that design is a real phenomenon and attempts to quantify it is real science and it is not breaking any rule to apply what we learn from those attempts to biology?

The future of ID is assured, because it is pursued by individuals who have ACTUALLY HEARD DIRECTLY FROM GOD, AND CAN DISCERN WHICH OF THE THREE PERSONS OF THE TRINITY IS SPEAKING.

Not that ID has a thing to do with religion.

4) CFC (0.3), ozone (0.4), and black soot on snow (0.8) perfectly account for the observed regional patterns of warming for, according to Hansen 2005, a total forcing of 1.5 from these factors.

Hansen 2005? DaveScot must mean this study:

Earth's Energy Imbalance: Confirmation and Implications
Quote
Our climate model, driven mainly by increasing human-made greenhouse gases and aerosols among other forcings, calculates that Earth is now absorbing 0.85 ± 0.15 W/m2 more energy from the Sun than it is emitting to space.

And this Hansen:

Answers About the Earth's Energy Imbalance by James E. Hansen, Director of the Goddard Institute for Space Studies
Quote
This is the ‘smoking gun’ that we have been looking for (with regard to identifying the human role in causing global warming). There can no longer be genuine doubt that human-made gases are the dominant cause of observed warming.

------------
Addendum: DaveScot provides a link to my comment here.
Quote
Peanut gallery contributor Zach posts a link to an article by Hansen which concludes the earth is absorbing 0.85 +- 0.15w/m^2 more energy than it is radiating back out into space.

Not just "an article", but "the article" that DaveScot cited. According to Hansen's research, whom DaveScot references as a basis for his argument, "human-made gases are the dominant cause of observed warming". This indicates that 1. The earth is observed to be warming. 2. That humans are the main reason why the Earth is warming. Also, Hansen determined that there is a "likelihood of acceleration of ice sheet disintegration and sea level rise".

DaveScot
Quote
So where is all that excess 0.85w/m^2 going? It’s going to turn ice at 0 degrees C into water at 0 degrees C and after that it can drive evaporation turning warm water into warm water vapor, all the while not driving up the temperature of the earth as a whole because the energy is simply being stored as chemical and kinetic energy.

And the ice is melting, too. I'm so glad that's settled.

Zachriel: here's a couple of things to toss around: http://www.nrdc.org/globalWarming/fgwscience.asp

and
Quote
Global warming is now 0.6°C in the past three decades and 0.8°C in the past century. It is no longer correct to say that "most global warming occurred before 1940". More specifically, there was slow global warming, with large fluctuations, over the century up to 1975 and subsequent rapid warming of almost 0.2°C per decade.
Recent warming coincides with rapid growth of human-made greenhouse gases. Climate models show that the rate of warming is consistent with expectations (5). The observed rapid warming thus gives urgency to discussions about how to slow greenhouse gas emissions (6).    -- J. Hansen, R. Ruedy, M. Sato, and K. Lo. NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies and Columbia University Earth Institute

I'm amused that Dave is obsessing over this and Dembski is dull enough to tolerate his mania. It's just one more thing to be pointed at as "failed claims in the zany Dembski world"

There's sites with large international listings on related studies, but Dave's Google skillz apparently haven't found them.

More climate Tard from Dave, complete with slapdown:

http://www.realclimate.org/index.p....t-26091

Quote
I was browsing the NASA interactive satellite temperature data for the troposphere which stretches from 1979 to 2003. It has a global map that's colored in shades of red for heating and blue for cooling. Flipping through the time sequence it's obvious that almost all the heating anomalies are in the snow covered far north. South of Canada down to Antarctica isn't really heating at all. Moreover, there's a graph of the average temperature anomalies of all areas (below the world map) and that shows that the net of heating and cooling is just about zero. I was wondering what could account for this pattern of heating and cooling and it occured to me that if the albedo of the snow cover in the far north was declining that would do it. So I looked around and dug up a study of snow albedo that appeared in the Journal of Atmospheric Sciences, Volume 37, August 1980 which confirmed that carbon soot from manmade sources (including forest fires) migrates thousands of miles and accumulates on permanent snow cover causing melting and temperature increases. The antarctic is relatively free of soot buildup but the arctic has been well contaminated.

This explains the heating (and lack of heating) patterns quite well. How does CO2 greenhouse heating explain these patterns and why is the global average temperature not really increasing?

[Response: Congratulations, you've just discovered "polar amplification." This pattern is common to most means of heating up the planet, including CO2, and is not prima facie evidence for soot controlling everything. A superficial look at the patterns can make it look like all the warming is in the Arctic, since that is indeed where the effect is strongest so far. However, as the recent National Academy report pointed out at great length, a careful study of the most careful satellite retrievals indicates consistency between the satellites and the surface network regarding the warming -- and that means that there is indeed warming in the midlatitudes and tropics, not just in the Arctic. I'll leave it to Gavin to comment on the status of the soot-albedo issue. Hansen made some pioneering attempts to estimate the magnitude of these effects, but like most pioneering attempts they're not the last word on the subject.

By the way, for further illumination readers should click on the DaveScot's name below the comment, to follow the link to where he has posted his take on the satellite trends (a classic case of jumping to the desired conclusion based on a superficial analysis). The link takes you to Dembski's Intelligent Design web site. The common cause being made between global warming skeptics and Intelligent Designers, both of which dress up their arguments with the exterior trappinggs of science, is -- as Mr. Spock would say -- "fascinating." --raypierre]
