I made thew following reply 2 times in this thread (http://www.uncommondescent.com/archives/2065), and made one inquiry as to why it is not appearing; but I have yet to see it.

Which is better:  to get blocked right away or to get insulted after having been delayed for several hours (http://www.uncommondescent.com/archives/2065#comment-91366">insulted?

You know what they say; to be blocked is human, to be insulted, divine...

Come on, WAD or DT, explain how ID predicts how the Intelligent Designer (peace be upon him) pushes the little rotaxane molecule around.

Phonon, please. That's WAY too easy.

They will repost the quote thus:

Quote

A molecular information ratchet

(abstract)
Motor proteins and other biological machines are highly efficient at converting energy into directed motion and driving chemical systems away from thermodynamic equilibrium. But even though these biological structures have inspired the design of many molecules that mimic aspects of their behaviour artificial nanomachine systems operate almost exclusively by moving towards thermodynamic equilibrium, not away from it. Here we show that information about the location of a macrocycle in a rotaxane—a molecular ring threaded onto a molecular axle—can be used, on the input of light energy, to alter the kinetics of the shuttling of the macrocycle between two compartments on the axle. For an ensemble of such molecular machines, the macrocycle distribution is directionally driven away from its equilibrium value without ever changing the relative binding affinities of the ring for the different parts of the axle. The selective transport of particles between two compartments by brownian motion in this way bears similarities to the hypothetical task performed without an energy input by a 'demon' in Maxwell's famous thought experiment. Our observations demonstrate that synthetic molecular machines can operate by an information ratchet mechanism in which knowledge of a particle's position is used to control its transport away from equilibrium.

It's like trying to pass a test for tartidty.

I wouldn't be so sure  if getting a comment through was a compliment unless I was trying to pass myself off as some sort of postmodern objectivist theodictator nee faux feminist by fitting into a very small  straightjacket. (which might be fun if Kristine and a feather was involved but don't they ban general naughtyness and particularly nasty weather?)

You realize that if this little exchange had happened on UD:

i) DaveScot would have calculated a probability of 95% for three murders every day;

ii) all posters pointing out the error would be banned;

iii) he'd realize the error, erase the thread, and calculate a probability of 10^-350;

iv) this would then be evidence for Intelligent Murder theory.

V) a commenter would have asked, "Why O Why dont Darwinist's understand basic satistics?!?!?!?!?!?!?"

I have never tried to post at UD - I don't have the energy to do a JanieBell thing, and I am too old to fart around with DaveTard and Bill, and any post I made would never see the light of day, because I would have to call them on their hypocrasy, stupidity, etc.

However, if I DID post at UD, I would be banned for suggesting that Bill and Dave have a long-term secret illicit nerd-on-fatso tawdry love affair, and of course, insisting that DaveScot has a Cheesy Poofs Addiction Problem.

DaveScott might also have a problem with my bringing up the credibility of his 150++ IQ, and sugggesting that in reality the decimal should be moved at least one, if not two places.  To the left.  No, Dave, your OTHER left...

And CONGRATULATIONS to all of you that HAVE been banned by UD.  A TRUE Badge of Honor.

Thinkquote of the day: Avoiding simple, obvious truths

"I know that most men, including those at ease with problems of the greatest complexity, can seldom accept even the simplest & most obvious truth if it be such as would oblige them to admit the falsity of conclusions which they delighted in explaining to colleagues, which they have proudly taught to others, & which they have woven, thread by thread, into the fabric of their lives."

- Leo Tolstoy

Isn't that a perfect description of ID/Creationism?  Once you've woven religion into the fabric of your life and explained how it means you are God's favorite and one of the very small elite that really understands what's going on to all your colleagues, you just can't accept even the most obvious truth that demotes you to an ordinary human being.  Better endless deception, obfuscation and self delusion than admitting that you're just a very ordinary small time hack writer.  Or a once promising scholar who thought he'd set the world on fire and ended up making an ass of himself on a world-wide stage.  Not to mention DaveTard.

Oh Dave strikes with a tardelicious misreading of a hypothesis which potentially explains why Antartica hasn't warmed as much as expected:

Quote
I just love being eventually proven right but vindication usually doesn’t come to me this quickly. As I was trying to tell Mike Dunford, including my now prophetic-appearing conjecture that manmade CFC-caused ozone depletion is a real global warming culprit, unlike the mythical C02 effect…

So, Dave has boldy predicted that it is ozone depletion, not increased CO2, that is causing global warming.  In support of this he cites a paper that states:
Quote

“In some sense, we might have competing effects going on in Antarctica where there is low-level CO2 warming but that may be swamped by the effects of ozone depletion.”

In other words, ozone depletion in the stratosphere over the Antartic has a regional cooling effect that might be swamping the warming contribution of increased CO2.

Apparently in Dave's world cooling affirms his prediction of warming.

Hmmmm.

He also seems to have missed the fact that this hypothesis is viewed favorably by many (most?) of the mainstream climate science community.  I first read about it on Real Climate, IIRC.

Out of morbid curiousity, is there anything at all about which the tard-meister has been non-trivially correct?
It appears that his only skills are bluster and an inability to get anything at all genuinely correct.

Is that a quadruple entendre or a quintuple entendre in your mind?

I'm sure with a little thought we could come up with a dozen or more (dodecatuple) interpretations.

I'm not going to list them however.  The subject matter is too "smelly" and might get "thrown" on the bathroom wall.

Well, I saw A Flock of Dodos last night, and I have to say, what's the big deal?

Randy Olson was so gentle with the creationists; he made them look like charm school graduates whereas the scientists were portrayed as a bunch of boozing, blustering blabbermouths who didn't so much play a poker game as serially interrupt each other with statements like, "Now, what was my point?" He ended the film by saying he'd rather play poker with Kathy Martin, Connie Morris, and John Calvert than his old scientist buddies. (Do fundies play poker?) :O

So the DI doesn't have a budget of 5 million, but 4.2 million. Ooooh.

So Calvert managed to cough up a textbook that had a drawing of Haekel's embryos (Haekel-n-Jekyl, I have never heard so much about the dang embryos before!;) and faxed it to Olson, and it didn't get into the film. That's what you get when you belatedly fumble for evidence for an answer you've just presented as God's truth.

The DI finally contacted Olson after the film was made, and they sat him in a room and screamed at him.

Who would you rather be screamed at, a creationist or a scientist? :)

Are there any other distortions in the movie?
Ohhh, yeeaaah. The inexplicable "there are no transitional fossils" crapola gets a lot more play than the stupid embryos.

None of Haekel's drawings showed up in my textbooks as I recall--just a paragraph about them. I've read a lot of material on evolution since adolescence and didn't encounter the embryos until Wells had a hissy-fit about them. :p

“That’s all global warming alarmism really is - a political power grab.”

Is this really true DaveScot? Are you saying that there is NOTHING behind global warming except politicians wanting to grab political power? What political seat is Al Gore seeking again?

Please think about this–in the last ten years, the earth on the whole has been warmer each year than the previous year and those ten together are the ten warmest years recorded.

In addition, global warming isn’t merely getting warmer, but it is the disturbance of the climate. We see cold places, like the Arctic, getting warmer and warm places getting colder. This disturbance in climate has a great effect on environment, ecology, and other areas.

This earth was given to us as a gift and with the responsibility to take care of it. We are called to be good stewards and I don’t believe denying global warming is being a good steward of the earth.

Of course, I hope, I really hope global warming isn’t happening. It would make this a better place and less environmental concerns. But I don’t see the evidence that it isn’t happening. And even if it isn’t, what is to keep us from being good stewards?

Finally, I still don’t see how global warming relates to intelligent design. Is Uncommon Descent now a blog on global warming too?

So Dave when you wrote

“First of all CFCs are powerful greenhouse gases (vs. a weak gas like CO2)”

I guess that was irrelevant?

I am afraid there are a few things that you have written that I don’t believe. Maybe you can supply references? I am always willing to learn. I have supplied references to support the challenges I am making.

1 “When UVB instead reaches the surface because manmade CFCs have thinned the stratospheric ozone layer” - the only significant thinning of the ozone layer to date is where there is an ‘ozone hole’ - a tiny proportion of the earth’s atmosphere.

2 “That’s probably why the C02 models predicted much more global warming than has actually been observed.” Of course most scientists think current levels of temperature increase are in line with models - but I know I will not convince you of this.

3 “the C02 models predicted warming would be consistent from the surface up through the troposphere whereas actual measurements show more heating at the surface and declining as you rise into the troposphere.” GCM models predict an increasingly sharp temperature gradient in the atmosphere as the concentration of GHGs increases.

4 “Snow is a good reflector of UVB so the antarctic gets less of the heating effect.” But the Antarctic is where the ozone hole is - that’s the place that gets virtually all the UVB - so even with reflection it should the strongest warming trend on your theory.

I think you might want to think this one through a bit more :)

then you must realize this is the only way they can keep the darkness at bay.
