I live in the Deep South. On the way to this taco bell literally 10 minutes ago, I went to a Bank of America drive-thru ATM. There are two atms, separated by 30 feet, so two cars can use the lane at the same time.

The guy who pulled in ahead of me, with me immediately behind him, pulled up to the first machine and used that one while I waited for 5 minutes.

These people exist, Patrick.

I grew up in Maine, at the other end of Appalachia.  The only difference between the cultures is that one has grits and the other has snow.  I know too well that they exist, but I'm enjoying my Boxing Day cheer-based delusions.

Stop popping my damn thought balloons!

Slimy Sal gets paranoid: UD Under Cyber Attack?  !!111111eleventy!
A concerned poster is shocked to find that when Googleing "uncommon descent" it doesn't show up on the first page and has alerted UD (hilariously, his post was held in moderation for some time :D).

Of course, it has nothing whatsoever to do with UD dwindling to insignificance, no way. Google is part of the conspiracy against UD.

Do you really want to click my link? Let's keep Google results the way they are!

Wasn't UD hacked some time ago? It might that they're still suffering from that. They would do well to go through the Google support pages and check the problem.

The masters of intuitive probabilistic analysis are awfully bad at assessing actual probabilities. If the Google results don't look right, it might be the result of:

A) Faulty analytics
B) A hack
C) A shadowy cabal of secularists at Google and Microsoft working to undermine the science of design detection in order to further the demonic homosexualist communization of America

I think that C is probably not the right or most probable answer. But since the design detection process conflates "I want it to be true" with "it's obviously true, you uncivil materialist swinesucker," and that ID creationists need a martyrdom narrative to explain away their failures, they're probably predisposed to seeing conspiracies.

Could this possibly be self-referential humor?

“Who de cap fit, let ‘im wear it . . . ” — a (preliminary) collection of seen-in-the-wild Darwinist fever swamp fallacies

KF wants to build a library of "fallacies" he perceives have been used against ID creationists, including:

"Darwinist trifecta red herrings trojan horse led away from the track of truth to strawman caricatures soaked in ad hominems and set alight to cloud, confuse, poison and polarise the atmosphere for discussion"

and

"Fallacy of the closed, hostile, question-begging, self-referentially incoherent, absurdity-clinging a priori materialist mind."

I can't parse the first one, but I think he means "the straw man fallacy." The second might mean, "the fallacy of not agreeing with me." But there's so much cruft in these sentences it's hard to tell.

This doesn't even seem like an attempt to communicate ideas.

Perhaps the UDers could complain to anti-evolutionist Rick Santorum about their Google Problem... :)

KF *is* a caricature. No strawman about it.

Could have something to do with this:

uncommondescent.com/blogs/shop/viagra_professional.php

Found that with a search, but upon inspection "Viagra" and links are in every page's source code, ~6 times too.

Aren't like 1/2 of UDers self proclaimed genius-level software engineers?

ETA: In the UD thread, this has been pointed out. Also that Barry was informed months ago.

Response: KF
"FE: While that could be a factor, it does not explain how the Behe sub-site is at the top. There is likely to be an ideological factor. KF"

scordova patiently explains that ID is totes different than creationism. ...and then starts saying how it could be plausible that Noah's flood happened. And then the first non-sal comment is 'Barb' spending 1000+ words on how science proves the flood happened. And then JGuy starts quoting Genesis and speculating on the physics of the water canopy. And then Scordova starts babbling about animations of the 'fountains of the deep'. and BornAgain starts talking about how the flood was prob 13,000-14,000 years ago, blah blah Henry Morris blah blah quantum mechanics blah blah John 4:14.

Don't you all have such egg on your faces, confusing ID with creationism.

It’s inconceivable, imo, that behemoths, such as Google and Microsoft, in this omnipresent medium, should not be in cahoots with US Intelligence and, secondarily, other national intelligence agencies, with a view to marginalising independent and almost, ipso facto, hostile, sites and posters, by suppressing their true following.

Let’s look at some corroborating evidence from science. the Bible is specific as to the Flood’s being global. There is nothing in its record to limit the Flood to a particular area. Neither is there any indication that others besides Noah and his family survived.

All science so far!

Seeing IDiots like Kairosfocus and Sally proclaiming that Google would give a shit about them and their little irrelevant kingdom I am optimistic that UD will at least another year. Looking forward for the entertainment.

Probably home, schooled.

It's a pity that they can't distinguish
"Let's eat, grandma" from
"Let's eat grandma".

But it might explain a bit about their problems with civility and honesty.

There's not much happening at the moment and this thread is long enough already. Someone may start the next new UD-centered thread.
