Ha!

This plant matter has clearly evolved then!

Now that he has banned all but an amputee's handful of opponents, I wonder what we can expect in response. Mullings bowing in deference? Virgil lubricating his lips? Louis (Mapou) leading the charge at the lack of opposition? BA77 wondering why Barry banned him?

Or maybe he will have to grant another "amnesty" to get his hit rates up.

Banny arrogants last act will be to ban himself.

That record does not show, as Darwin suggested, a finely graduated organic chain between major Types.  Instead, it shows abrupt appearance of various Types followed by stasis.  Again, using the pentadactyl limb as an example, Denton has no doubt that the limb evolved from the fins of fish.  Yet the fossil record simply does not support the view that the evolution of the limb from the fin occurred gradually over eons of time.  The fossil record is instead conspicuous for the absence of transitional forms from fish fin to pentadactyl limb.

Does Barry live in a universe where Tiktaalik fossils don't exist?  What the hell does he think all the fuss was about when they were discovered?

Barry, we don't ask you to become an expert archaeologist just to comment on a book, but could you at least be dimly aware of the science involved?

For Bazza as an objectivist (or is that objectionable?) bibliophile Paley-ontology sounds to him the same as a Palynologist. Thus for a given set of laws there is a corresponding set of pecuniary opportunities available by deception.

“Actually, Darwin provided several testable reasons why the fossil record would be imperfect”

For the uninitiated, I will translate from Zachriel-speak into English:

“Actually, Darwin engaged in a prolonged effort in special pleading to try to save his theory from the fossil record, which he knew beyond the slightest doubt not only did not support, but affirmatively refuted, his theory.”

Barry and Gpuccio are doing their uninformed best, crowing about gaps in fossil record and poorly done blast searches, respectively.

Rob Sheldon is perhaps even further off, especially for someone who acts like an expert in physics:

"superfluidity was observed and explained in the 20th century as a quantum property of helium-3. What is weird about this paper, is that quantum phenomena aren’t supposed to be observed over distances of millimeters, and with galaxies she’s talking distances of light-years"

News undoes this claim by linking to a youtube video of superfluid helium acting on the macro scale, climbing tube walls and making fountains. It is very cool (pun intended).

Superfluidity and superconductivity are THE textbook examples of macroscopic quantum phenomena (and the same equations are used to describe the two). If he thinks they only work on the atomic scale, some Japanese train engineers need to chat with him.

Both belong to the Jack Webb school of debate.  On Dragnet, Joe Friday never lost an argument with a hippy so long as Webb was writing the lines for both of them.

P.S. For what it's worth, which probably isn't much, I feel that Lethean should get an edit button. It seems odd to me that edit buttons aren't given to everyone. If it's abused, it can be withdrawn. Can a time limit be put on editing a comment? Say, 30 minutes?

The standing rule is that it takes a fixed number of comments before triggering some of the board's options. The "edit" function is one. "Smilies" are another.
