Quote (Erasmus @ FCD,Mar. 02 2011,15:39) | what about this sad little piece of projection
Quote | Barry Arrington
Theist: You say there is no God.
Evolutionary Materialist [EM]: Yes.
Theist: Yet belief in God among many (if not most) humans persists.
EM: I cannot deny that.
Theist: How do you explain that?
EM: Religious belief is an evolutionary adaption.
Theist: But you say religious belief is false.
EM: That’s correct.
Theist: Let me get this straight. According to you, religious belief has at least two characterizes: (1) it is false; and (2) evolution selected for it.
EM [looking a little pale now, because he’s just figured out where this is going]: Correct.
Theist: You believe the Neo-Darwinian Synthesis [NDS] is true.
EM: Of course.
Theist: How do you know your belief in NDS is not another false belief that evolution has selected for?
EM: ____

Gay Hitler EvoMaterialistfag: "Um I don't give that sort of horseshit much thought, really now fuck off I am trying to masturbate into this box of communion wafers and then rape this baby i strangled before i get some high school science teachers fired and reject this manuscript about ticks and watermelons"
Fuck barry if it makes you feel better instead of "evolution selected for it" say "herp derp derp". that's what we hear anyway pal. |
Geez...it would be so nice if Barry could at least get the conversation partially correct:
Theist: You say there is no God.
Evolutionary Materialist [EM]: Umm...no. I don't actually know there is no god, but since I can find no material evidence of one, I don't believe in one.
Theist: Yet belief in God among many (if not most) humans persists.
EM: I cannot deny that.
Theist: How do you explain that?
EM: Religious belief is a by-product of emotional and psychological development of a social organism in complex social and rule-driven groups. As groups' social structures become more complex, the need for an authoritative basis of given rule-sets become a more successful way to ensure the survival of the group and individuals. Plus, religious explanations for given phenomenon have the advantage of being more powerful in terms of adherence in early societies, because they offer far small boundaries of questioning the areas that are unknown than more "accurate" materialist explanations that are provided without adequate understanding of the extent of the phenomenon.
Theist: But you say religious belief is false.
EM: No, religious explanations are false. Believing them is just gullibility and ultimately weakness of strength to face how the world actually works.
Theist: Let me get this straight. According to you, religious belief has at least two characterizes: (1) it is false; and (2) evolution selected for it.
EM [looking a little annoyed now, because he’s just figured out where this is going]: No, that isn't what I said at all.
Theist: You believe the Neo-Darwinian Synthesis [NDS] is true.
EM: Of course.
Theist: How do you know your belief in NDS is not another false belief that evolution has selected for?
EM: Because I don't have any belief in NDS; I understand through actual study of the data and parameters how it works and, in many cases, why it works the way it does.
Barry: Our materialist friends are invited to fill in the blank.
Done and done, wanker.
