If not, I plead the fifth. Or probably over half of it anyway. But I hope so.

First, Louis, you're a bastard for doin' that to your wife. But don't worry you'll suffer for it.

Some.

Does anyone have any of that good advise to offer the soon to be dad?

I do.

1. You don't get to even wonder if you might be right for just under 2 years. Serious. Don't do it. After that, it's back to however it was ( I don't need to know).

2. Water birth. Our youngest was a water birth but since the twins were c-section it was like a first. But I do have the two episodes to compare even though they were lots different due to twins, breach, emergency c-section and all, My better half was in labor about 5 hours first. It was like that girl in the scary movie when her head spun round.

The water birth wasn't just easier though. It was easy.

I even got to sit in the tub with her which was pretty cool.

I have confirmation that outward appearances matched inward appearances so this is how I tell it:

A water birth is like skydiving with a trick chute so you hit the ground a little fast. It hurts some but not like you'd think (consult a place that does them, they'll have videos to show you).*

Natural non water birth is like having a big old paratrooper style chute you have to open at like 200m or so.

Only it fails to open,.

But you live.

That's the other way.

Just sayin.

Anyway, hope you get a box of nice cubans.

Congrats.

ETA:* water births, not skydiving.

Oh boy!

BWE: the idea is sound, but for the love of FSM, wait 'till you've sobered up, please.  :D

When your autocorrect is fixed, maybe you could edit your post for more readability?

By the way, on a forum I used to post on, they had a "drunken posting" thread. That would be a good idea, and would highly increase my post ratio...

Buggeration BWE, we did this weeks ago on the Wall.

Thanks for the kind sentiment but can this thread be deleted/ignored/altered to the Drunken Posting Thread so we can get on with the business at hand, i.e. LOLCats, dick jokes, moron baiting and occasional science discussion.

Charming though it is to have lots of people congratulate you on something important, I am British and therefore get all embarrassed and uncomfortable. ;)

B b but... It desedrves it's own thread.  ???

I'll try to type slower but I have to put my face right down next to the keys and it's kinda scary. Looking up a second ago, I see it apparently helps the spelling though.

Anyway, no shit about the water birth. And everyone's got to put the advice into a thread. I mean, it's a huge deal. What are you 30 35, Your life as you knew it is about to end. You need advise Louis. Take my advice on this one. :D

It's called an IUD (inter uterine device) or coil (little wiggly shaped device that goes into the uterus and prevents implantation).

Unless she was wearing a cap/dutch cap (little rubber disk that fits over the cervix) whilst skydiving, but since those are only worn when you are about to have sex I'm curious as to what she was planning to do mid sky dive....

Yep, that's the bunny. From what I understand, it didn't actually leave the premices, but got displaced in a bad way.

Fellow AtBC-ers:

Many things come to mind when I am reminded of Louis' imminent reproduction: Firstly, I am aghast that, in the imagined words of famed Canadian humorist Densey O'Leary, a well-known Brit toff has managed to sire offspring at all.

I'd sooner expect the corpse of Oscar Wilde to pop up out of the grave and announce his bethrothal to Gertrude Stein. I ask you, fellow denizens of the bar, is this the kind of world that we want to live in, where the english, well-known for their tiny, doll-like genitalia, are breeding willy-nilly, so to speak?

Secondly, should we continue to heap blame upon the memory of a man who has already been punished enough? As has been already mentioned, Divine Providence has seen fit to plague the English with Margaret Thatcher,Louis (a kind of hairier, yet oddly less male Maggie), miniscule sex organs, Louis and British "cuisine" -- have we no mercy? Can we not seek, in the name of international diplomacy, and the very welfare of said forthcoming child  -- to wrest the babe from the clutches of such a fate?

It is on this final note that I wish to dwell, my friends.

As we have seen all too often in these hallowed pages, Louis is surely himself the spawn of the Dark Forces that beset mankind. In short, he is a pest of vast vocabulary, ambiguous parentry and suspect sexual proclivities. Yet, as we have learned from our many scientifical studies in nerdology and genetics...such "tendencies" as found in Louis often skip a generation, so that this child about to be born might in fact not be at all like his father, but rather a brilliant mind, focused and uncrippled by addiction to drink, drugs and lolcattery. In short, it may actually be somewhat like me, in my modest genius. I therefore raise a toast to a child that I'd be proud to consider my own, if he weren't my own, which he surely couldn't be because I'd never do such a thing. At least not while Louis could know. And he doesn't.

Raise your glasses to the future, my friends -- to the FUTURE! May The Noodly One save us all.

Rumor has it that he only managed to get the job done by taking advice from you.

Blah-di-fucking-blah.

At least I don't interfere with squirrels. Why even Carlson knows you do it, and uses a LOLSquirrel to illustrate it.

I've also noticed a disturbing tendency for Deadman and Arden to insinuate that they have been shagging my Mrs. I cam mildly concerned for them in this regard because I happen to know for a fact that neither of them have left their mother's basements for a sufficient period of time to get to a) the UK or b) any part of the USA that my wife has been to within a suitable timeframe.

Anyway, none of the standard banter is offensive, except for one teeny tiny bit. I am somehow like Margaret Thatcher? That, sir, goes TOO FAR! I shall have my seconds call upon you, your choice of weapons.

Well. No part of the USA that she's been to that you know of.

But really, this is all academic. If the baby is born with a unibrow, a big bushy moustache, a fez, profuse body hair, and curly toed shoes, you're home free. If not, don't say we didn't try and warn you.

Skip the fez and curly toed shoes (we'll put them on afterwards) and the rest is about right. I'm not saying the moustache is big, but it was detectable on the 20 week ultrasound....
