I read some of Shi's papper. Well, that's a waste of effort just to confirm what is already known: the molecular clock is just a statistical observation, not a theory. Fixation rates depend on effective population sizes, among other things. Did you know, Shi, that most modern phylogenetic trees don't have branches of equal length, since they aren't built with the outdated UPGMA (Unweighted Pair Group Method with Arithmatic mean)? And I would be cautious using sequence data from fossil specimens. Some mutations may in fact result from DNA degradation. I also fail to see what all that has to do with ID.
