I am not sure I totally agree. My recollection of the stillborn offer to debate Barbara Forrest was that he would accept only as much honoraria as was offered the other participants, with the implication that he was open to doing it for free.

hmm, really?  I'd like to clear that up for sure, since money does seem to be a serious issue when dembski is asked for his testimony, for example, and I have seen it arise in other "debate" issues as well.

if you find clarification on that, and you feel like it, would you go ahead and post it here?

I keep wondering if Dembski thinks that's true.

remember some of the disturbing things he and Sal had to say during the whole "vise strategy" thing?

If he offers to do it completely for free, and at Avalos' university, I'll be shocked, to say the least.

Whatever endocrinological systems of yours would most suffer from that sort of shock can rest easy. There is not a cloud on the horizon.

hmm, it makes me kind of hope he does offer it for free and under the conditions Avalos specifies.

I am all of a sudden kinda curious as to which endocrine systems would be affected, now that you mention it.

"Oh my, I do believe I got the vapors!"

After I wrote that, I realized I've been reading too much Wodehouse lately. There's a certain whimsy which is creeping into my tone.

The whole Gonzalez-Avalos deal is the first time, IMO, that he has put more than a half-assed effort into his contributions there. He sees himself as an impact player and strives for a larger stage than UD and SWBTS can ever offer.  After his complete failure to ensnare Forrest into "Vise Strategy: Part Deux", the Gonzalez tenure denial is the first thing that looks like a casus belli.

Alas, the sad reality is that ID is dead, Dr Dr Dembski is a nobody, and the rest of the world doesn't give a flying fig what Dr Dr Dembski (or any other IDer) says.  (shrug)

By the way, my wife is from Iowa, and I get up there now and again. I’d be happy to debate you at ISU if you’re up for it. My one condition is that I have as much uninterrupted time to present my case as you do yours. The title of my talk would be “How to be an intellectually fulfilled atheist.”

I would read that as saying that "getting paid" is not a condition.

KairosFocus and Phevans are going at it over on the "Sewell's law" (snicker) thread.

KairosFocus would like to argue points that aren't being discussed.  A new prince tard?

Clearly you have not demonstrated a gain in information since you have not “built a better overall yeast” that will be favored by selection.

Um, what if you don't remove the stress from the mutant yeast? Does that disprove ID? Don't enviroments ever change? erm....

Does the copied gene give redundancy? If so that is a new function, with new information...

Obviously KairosFocus and BornAgain are ignorant of the large number of beneficial mutations that have been observed.

That's OK. We're all ignorant about some things, I just choose not to spout off about those things I am ignorant of.

I've memorized all of the algorithms employed by my most accurate meter and now detect irony by pure mentation.  I'm through replacing all this expensive hardware.

I now turn my gaze upon Uncommonly Denyse's latest post.

I see. "Overaged." Mmmm..  "Twerp." Huh?  "Self regarding?" Uhh... "REAL work for a living"  Wha....?

...and....

...and....and...and...

I was reading the 2007 IPCC report’s 2007 Physical Science Basis and it came as a surprise how much variance there is from year to year in how atmospheric CO2 increases.

t seems like it might be much more economically viable and beneficially desirable to pursue reforestation instead of reducing CO2 emissions.
Why even bother if CO2 has nothing to do with global warming?

And I'm not sure where he got the 100% figure, but CO2 obviously doesn't reduce by 100% before it increases by 100% and it obviously doesn't double year to year.
