I went a couple hundred rounds with someone who asserted SETI should be looking for something equivalent to "john loves mary" in mitochondrial DNA. Such people get quiet when you ask them for examples that have actually been found.

Obviously we know that humans produce sentences and we have lots of examples of things humans have produced. Oddly enough, the list of things produced by humans doesn't include living cells from scratch chemistry, nor any fully functional computer simulations of living things.

So the list of living things that resemble things known to have been designed is a null set.

sigh...

Now, if I had said that about someone from your side, I'd have been banned to the bathroom wall.  There is nothing in that quote from McDowell that supports E's claim.

I'll have to order this book for my boys seeing as it has you folks so wound up.  It must be a good one.

There are other things that should be occupying your attention, Ftk.

FtK do you believe the entire universe is fine-tuned for human existence?

even outer space?

Since that is clearly one of the stupidest things ever said, we must determine whether Sean McDowell believes that he can preach in orbit without a space suit.

Does he believe this?  If so, then I am truly sorry for being so mean to him.  If he truly believes this, I say we send him up there to prove it to us meanie evilutionists.

Does he not believe that he can preach in outer space without a suit?  But he said the entire universe is fine-tuned for human existence.  That makes him a liar.

Take your pick.  He is either very stupid or very dishonest, or both.  Since you are the local expert on both, I suggest you take it up with him.

ps by the way your husband is very charming.  I'm afraid he ran into the same problem you do, namely EVIDENCE.  was fun for a while though.

and no, Ftk, you would not.  I know it's your profession to lie and then nail yourself to your cross, but it's really tiresome at this point.

You've gotten away with far worse.

Umm, not so fast there, Skippy.  She has to post at least four times before it is a flounce-in.  Right now, we just have a drive-by  FTKing.

HA HA THIS IS FTK

The best part of this particular drive-by is that she proved the point of my comment upthread. She's gonna buy the book "for the kids", and keep the Dembski rube-fleecing operation afloat until the next book.

I just need to say that the Amazon page for Dembski's new book makes me chuckle aloud each time I look at it. The tags on it are a crack up. Poor Dembski. He has a pack of scrub jays hounding his every move. I love that. You will fail dembski . . . you are just a grown up version of the kid we tied to the leaky downspout during a torrential downpour. We enjoy picking on you because you're such an easy target.

That discussion I made a thread about (a long long time ago) has flared up again. And this guy is summing up ID like this:
ID says that *ahem* non-trivial algoritmic systems cannot spontaniously arise. To realise non-trivial algoritmic systems, you need an intelligent designer.
How does that compare what Dembski says in his book?

PS: And ofcourse, I kept asking if he could actually start talking about biology here. And ofcourse, he won't do that, because according to him everything would just get confusing then. A lovely discussion.
PPS: He sums op the theory of evolution like this:
A bunch of just-so stories for wich there is A no evidence that it happend "that way" and B no evidence that it can happen.
Ofcourse I'de love to respond to the bloke, but because he doesn't talk about biology and apperantly just about sci-fi (that's what it looks like), I have no idea what to say. Ain't those people lovely?
