Great, just great! The cross-dressers can now eat in the Baylor cafeteria and he still can't.  And, to add insult to injury, he can't make fun off them anymore, either.  Damn liberals! Always screwing up his fun!

If Dembski showed up at the Baylor cafeteria in a dress, I'd let him in.

Yeah he could wear that low cut knitted affair.....very haut couture. It must be the only one in existance.

It's hard to imagine that even in Fundyland that makes a lick of sense.

I could at least present a stupid fundy argument for those positions, but what she said is just nonsense.

Tard Alert!

So we have to give special rights and recognition to a group of people whose body does not match the sex of their mind.

I thought liberalism says that men and women are equals.
If that’s true, then why would someone born a man want to be a woman if they are equal?

RRE shows why sockpuppetry is problematic. Can I savor the utter and complete missing of the boat by RRE here if he might just be one of you jerks in disguise?

And is RRE pronounced "Re-Re"?

Gpuccio has found a way to easily disprove Darwinian evolution
Quote
I have alway thought that any serious GA should look for evolution of function from random noise in a context which can have all the restraints we want, but which must not incorporate in any way the knowledge of the function which will evolve. But obviously, such a GA would easily falsify darwinian evolution, so I don’t think it will be easily created, or accepted, by the official academy.

Does anybody know who this "official academy" is and how they could stop such a GA being created?

There are many computer programmers over at UD (few biologists evidently) and you would think they'd be falling overthemselves to write such a GA that will easily falsify Darwinian evolution. A nobel awaits?

Any system working this way, and that includes AVIDA and practically all GA, is just another instance of the “Methinks it’s like a weasel” model, and while it can show that a designed random search can work (which we already know), it says nothing about non designed random searchs.

Honestly they are obsessed with "Methinks it’s like a weasel" like that is anything but a toy example. It's like somebody standing up in a physics lecture and saying "but that's not true, my ABC 123 adding book for 9 to 12 year olds disagrees with your conclusion".

I guess if they knew their stuff that well they'd see how stupid they look and would stay silent.

It's me! I've implanted sinister Darwinoid prostheses into your brains to prevent you from writing a GA with any kind with any geniunely random input. (Those who appear to do so are actually working for me. Way to go, minions of The Official Academy!)

Run saline through it. Yes, it does feel like water torture - you may prefer to leave the fish inside of your face.

gpuccio: statistics is the science of random events, not of causal assumptions.

Bob O'H: Sorry, this is just wrong. A lot of modern-day statistics is about causal models. Look up topics like structural equation modelling, path analysis, graphical models etc.

gpuccio: By the way, while I happily admit that I don’t know the statistical applications you mention (I will try to study something about them, just to know), I still don’t think there is any doubt that statistics is the science which studies random events.

Statistics is the study of data—the collection and analysis of data (much of which is presumably not random).

Indeed, a lot of statistics involves trying to tease the actual trend from random variance in results.

Sal has his "gotcha" moment (or hasn't he?)
Over there, in the silent backwaters of UD, I've got a conversation going on with Sal Cordova, (re-)starting here. Amusingly, I wasn't able to post at UD for a couple of weeks (my contributions wouldn't even make the "your post is awaiting moderation" stage) - but a gentle hint from AtBC, and this was solved... Thanks!

Reading that thread, which one of you is thogan?

Hi DiEb,

Yeah, its' funny to see how Sal is arguing about fine mathematical points while at the same time he cannot spot a missing minus sign in your answer for the Fourier transform (#148).  A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

yep, guilty for the minus - I've to admit that I had quite a few typos in the terms I used - some I spotted, some not. So, thank you: that is a point for what I could be rightly chastised...
I tried to format the expressions nicely, but that's quite difficult at UD: < sup> and < sub> tags only work in the preview...

Don't worry Crying Slimy Sal. Panza will go over and get big mean dT to impersonate Sal's self and tell you off for being mean then threaten to hack the site....(That's UD BTW Dt <snicker>)

As they did back in the good old days on Panda's when Sal. Panza was trying to untangle one of Demquixote's windmill charging Tautological Sesquipedalian Obscurantisms ™ for us great unwashed.

From memory his abject failure to define one of his master’s private definitions for CSI. Needless to say he shot both his feet off and declared victory.

He did pick up a new word though....Obscurantism is not what you think it is Sal. I'm afraid.....first hit on Google is a bitch.

He has the endearing habit of forgetting to put his foot in the stirrup before he mounts.
Always leading to a delicious dénouement which he is always the last to realize.

Sal. Panza goes for glory when he thinks he is on a winner ...erm of course the fights he picks are with the worlds leading intellectuals (i.e. anyone smarter than Sal. .......sorry olegt that didn't mean you are stupid) and the subjects are ferocious world changing paper man eating tigers.

The comedy is, he is so tragic.

Watch him move onto discussing the price of fish in Madrid with Chinese Super Models.

WAD:

Quote
Obama: Helping Humanity Evolve
William Dembski

Here’s an excerpt from the San Francisco Chronicle about Obama. Adjectives like “fawning,” “effusive,” and “unhinged” don’t quite capture this article, which is titled “Is Obama an Enlightened Being?” “Messianic” is more like it. Interestingly, the highest praise that this article heaps on Obama is that he will “help us evolve.”

Quote
Many spiritually advanced people I know (not coweringly religious, mind you, but deeply spiritual) identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet, of relating and connecting and engaging with this bizarre earthly experiment. These kinds of people actually help us evolve. They are philosophers and peacemakers of a very high order, and they speak not just to reason or emotion, but to the soul.

I suppose this is one of the reasons ID is despised — it rips to shreds evolution’s religious pretensions.

The passage WAD quotes is new age gas, which advocates a fairy tale version of "human evolution" that bears no more relationship to the realities of natural history and biological evolution than does intelligent design.

Surely WAD knows better than to conflate the two.
