This is apparently being distributed to universities throughout the US on 19th November 2009, by Kirk and Ray:

he starts out lying and then goes downhill.

we've had a ball with that video.

maybe we should invite Ray Comfort for a seminar?  it was suggested to do this via the graduate student seminar series.  prompting the question "should we really lend jackasses any credibility?"  to which the reply was "It's a god damned graduate student seminar.  It doesn't have any credibility".

I'll keep you posted.

Notice how ID and creationism are used interchangeability.

This could be a good thing. Anybody who is already part of the reality based community won't be swayed by the garbage in the introduction. However I suspect more then a couple will be taken by the ideas presented in the remainder of the book.

One trivial example. TroutMac over at OE insisted (IIRC) Darwin wrote about the origin of life. I simply showed him Darwins' own words on the subject and he acknowledged his error. Didn't make him think about how many of his other assumptions and "facts" might have been in error however.

Now, after reading the introduction where Darwin is linked to Hitler, and then after reading the actual words Darwin wrote some people must see through the initial bullshit?

Sure, maybe not all but I can't see any positive things here at all for Comfort et al. The best they can hope for is nobody changes their mind at all. I mean, they are competing with some of the most powerful explanatory concepts around, and in the same book! They must be very arrogant to think that they can warp, slant and poison the message about evolution and still provide an entire copy of the text that started a revolution in thinking.

meh, they are idiots I guess so perhaps it's not surprising idiots do idiotic things.

But this? And the man in the video is so earnest.

All the want to do is present the "opposing, and correct" view. Nice of them to make that clear.

The video ends well too. "We need your money! And pray for us."

You'd think that all they'd ask for was prayer really.  Then the money would just come, no?

I also mentioned that He'd have to give me a thorough explanation as to *why* I must "eat human babies".

No banana. I had to explain to somebody the other day that, yes, they really did mean what they were saying in the banana video and that it was not somebody taking the piss.

Surprise: I left a comment on the video expressing my concern that - given the creationists' record of misquoting Darwin - we might not be handed an accurate copy, and the comment was deleted within minutes.

Actually, I think it is great! I read they going to up it to 100,000 copies. I wish they would double that. All you have to do is remove Ray's obnoxious lying bullshit and you have a wonderful copy of Origins - for free!

I tend to give these guys the benefit of the doubt but after doing a bit of reading on his blog I am 100% convinced that the Kirk is outright lying.

If it were Lou it would have said, "A banana IN my ass."

It must have been some other halluncination.
