In a discussion with another poster who objects to this, DaveScot posts the following:   Quote Everyone dies. Get used to it. The Holocaust was a man-made purposeful attempt to slaughter a group of many millions of people based upon a perceived inferiority. AIDs is a terminal disease brought on by a naturally occuring virus. But according to DaveScot's own beliefs, HIV is too complex to have arisen spontaneously.  New viruses can't just come from nowhere and adapt themselves to new hosts - mutation and natural selection won't permit such an improbable sequence of events, after all.  It must therefore have been designed.  Ergo, AIDS is an Intelligent-Designer-made purposeful attempt to slaughter a group of many millions of people... for what reasons, we can only speculate. Considering the prevalence of HIV among women, gays, and Africans, the implications for the ID's motives are disturbing.

You fail the course in ID logic. Here's the right answer: HIV *has* arisen spontaneously. Therefore it's microevolution. Therefore, it's allowed.

And HIV itself - well, no mere human mind could ever design such a powerful tool of genocide, much less random processes acted upon by environmental selection.

See, the problem is, you are expecting creationists' biological claims to be *scientifically consistent* rather than psychologically consistent. Psychological consistancy means, *always* accept or reject according to what feels right today. What felt right yesterday is no longer operative.

Secondly, most two-year-olds I've known have greater empathy and respect for the opinions/feelings of others than DaveScot.

Mr_Christopher Posts: 1238 Joined: Jan. 2006 (Permalink) Posted: Jan. 27 2006,05:35    I think Dave Scot has probably fatasized about having some sort of importance and power his whole life.  IDC gives him a stage to cultivate that sense of importance and power.  He's the IDC sergeant of arms. IDC is a magnet for arse clowns, bullies, incompetants and whack jobs.  I often wonder if Dembski hates most everyone who comes to his little blog.  I wouldn't be able to stand most of them. Anything goes in the IDC world and you need not offer any evidence whatsoever for any theory to be scientific.  This is a breeding ground for nut jobs and fantastic claims. I read Dembski's blog often and I am simply astonished by the sheer ignorance and lack of any sort of critical thinking demonstrated each day at Dembski's IDC camp.  I'd be pulling my hair out if they were my peers or on my side.   The very few there who contribute anything intellectually honest get warned or banned or put down. I think Behe is a quack but I view Dembski more of an opportunist who knows full well IDC is not science and never will be.  This is why I wonder if he cannot stand the type of people he attracts.  But without IDC Dembski would be nothing so not only does it pay the bills it gives him status.  I suppose in Dembski's world status amongst the ignorant and misinformed is better than no status at all. Dembski has deliberately turned over his blog to some malcontent who thinks that AIDS-related dementia is funny.  (I wonder what else DaveScot thinks is a laugh riot.  Heart attacks?  Schizophrenia?  Spinal cord injuries?)   The good news:  Eventually, UD is going to become such a bizarre mess that even Dembski is going to have to disavow it.  Oh, and the parts quoted here aren't wholly accurate.  Most of the time, DaveScot misspells "Holocaust". Sheesh.
