And a tardy happy birthday and kia ora to you both from me.
fnxtr asked me a question the other day on the Joe G Tardgasm thread which I have failed to have the courtesy to answer (mainly because I haven't thought of any witty way to reply):
Quote
Really? Can you explain pharmaceutical nomenclature? Or do they just make up cool sounding names? I mean the generic names, not brand names.

I'm afraid I'm a couple of steps removed from the naming process, although we do see some real tongue-twisters. It's sorta fun talking straight faced about hydrochlorothiazide, cholecalciferol and sulfamethoxazole etc.

ok thanks, Ptaylor (is the P silent? as in swimming?).

I was wondering about names impossible for the 1st-year chemist to parse, like ibuprofen, or the generic names for the big sellers (antidepressants, ED treatments, cholesterol control...).

I guess I could just look it up. :-)

Heh. That's the most ingenious interpretation of my nym I've seen yet. Nice work. †(It's actually a respelling of a nickname, and not the extrapolation function in some math program.)
Yesterday was dip-n-dine at the local spa: an hour of mineral baths and hot-tubs, followed by two hours of tapas. It was glorious. Today it's digestion and black forest CAEK. :-) †Life is good.
