I have long had admiration John Davison's feistiness (though not for his PEH) and it seems a shame that his avenues for discourse have gradually closed off. ISCID is all but defunct and the ashtrays are all full on his previous blogs. In support of John I would like to point out that he is a strong critic of climate change denialists, especially David Springer and his mentor, Bill Dembski.

So John has a new blog here and promises to try and be more civil to those who may want to visit.

I attempted to communicate with Ann after her most recent column. I hope she reads her comments section.

I don't even think she read her own book.

New crush? So why am I a "slut" but Ann is not?
;)
:p

A JAD-Coult mashup could be quite fun. I hope she does read her comments section. :)

That's fine John has his own blog. He can explain there his ideas for those who are interested. I hope the blog is not under the control of Alan Fox who established it for John. I think John will also disclose there all nonsense which are spreading from Pharyngula and other similar venues.

The last John's blog has been blocked up by some of his  adversary who sent there the whole "Origin of species".

What I am surprised is that Alan Fox has the password to John's new blog.

http://john.a.davison.free.fr/?p=4#comment-11

Personally (if possible) I would change the password immediately.

I am curious if there will be some participants of "knowledgeable evolutionists" from Pharyngula. You know their theories about color perception (green = white - red) etc... Also theories about natural selection and empy niches as driving forces of evolution is something I hope John will
respond there with his scathing criticism. We will see. The blog needs some time.

Well, John's new blog is off to a roaring start:

1. VMartin Said,
It’s nice you have your own blog John. I hope you can check all emails from those neodarwinian fanatics who
would like to block discussion here. Your Manifesto is one of the best available critics of neodarwinian thinking.
It continues in the best tradition of those men who claimed that natural selection play no role in
evolution. You mentioned Berg, Schindewolf, Broom, Grasse. I have already backed up such ideas by
thoughts of Franz Heikertinger, Adolf Portmann and Zdenek Neubauer
.
No one of mentioned prominent biologists believe natural selection play any role in evolution. The process is predetermined and has more to do with internal forces than with “environment”, “empty niches” etc. The final product is mankind and evolution is finished now.

I also hope that this blog is not under control of hypocrite Alan Fox who has started his whining and denigration at AtBC commeting your blog.

2. John A Davison Said,
Thank you Martin.

Actually, Alan Fox was kind to set this blog up for me. I doubt very much if he would do anything to jeopardize its future since he is responsible for its existence. He has the password and if he chooses to sabotage this blog, it is within his power to do so. I have thanked Alan for his help and will continue to be grateful unless events occur that will change my mind. If Alan now chooses to ridicule me at After The Bar Closes, there is a name for that condition. It is called hypocricy. That’s OK with me too!

Thanks for posting.

3. VMartin Said,
I wouldn’t believe Alan a word and change the password immidiately. But we will see.

I am curious if there will be some on-topic responses here about your Manifesto. The discussion could be
interesting. But you know very well that darwinists from Pharyngula and other venues have very limited knowledge.
Repeating their mantras about natural selection and empty niches they don’t know even themselves what
they are talking about.

"I have already backed up such ideas"??

Since when has Marty ever 'backed up an idea'??

Except for "the Darwinismus is bad", I don't recall VM ever having an idea.

Seriously, Marty, you two need to get a room. It's embarrassing to watch.  :O

I love it so!

The old codger actually made some sense there for a second in what must be his first-ever "second post," on global climate change.
Then he went back to his ol' self in the comments.

OK. Alan seems to follow the rule of his French famous fellow-countyman Voltaire:
"I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it. "

I don't know if "to the death" is not exaggerated a bit, but who knows Alan.

I hope I am never in a situation that obliges me to answer that, though I have had to raise my voice at the dinner table occasionally.

PS unless you meant "who knows Alan?" rather than "who knows, Alan?" in which case it is not for me to reply.

it could be my lack of education in biology and the short time i've been watching this discussion about evilution but why is john davison's prescribed evolution not questioned about who exactly prescribed said path?
or do i already know that answer?
and how does jd provide proof of said prescriber?

I think JAD is the second closest to a scientist they have, after former scientist Mike Behe. Funny how DaveTard is flailing with JAD's frontloaded hypothesis over at UD at the moment. I love it when he 'considers' the specific...

FTK,
John's position is that god is dead. Why do you think you two are on the same side? The enemy of my enemy? Yet of the positions available John's seems more antagonistic to you then any of the others.
So why do you appear to support him?
FTK, do you even know what he supports or are you just happy for him in a "teach the controversy" kind of way? Spirit of open inquiry and all that?

I am surprised that Richardthughes was unable to register himself at professor John Davison blog and it was Alan who registered him there!

http://john.a.davison.free.fr/?p=13#comments

Is Alan still at the charge of professor Davison's blog? It is very weird.

Anyway it's fine that the blog exists. I've  always appreciate  professor John Davison's concept of evolution.

That behind evolution are orthogenetic forces standing above "random mutation and natural selection" can be found in Manifesto and discussed at the blog. If there is interest and I am able to answer I would help to back John's ideas also there. The blog is very pleasant and fine.

------

I adressed the interesting issue of descent of testicles also at VMartin cosmology (the name of thread should probably ridicule me) but no coherent answer has appeared yet. Except of some babble of Arden Chatfield. But his responses I do not read anymore, so I don't know what the guy is babbling about. In some forums there is possibility to switch off answers from specified participants. But avatars help identified them as well.

Paleontologist Vaclav Petr from Uni Prague has just published his Evolutionary dictionary:

http://www.vydavatel.sk/inshop/evolucni-teorie-triton+id-13115.htm

There are several references to John Davison’s work and his original semi-meiotic hypothesis of evolution. The author is another scientist form Uni Prague who mentioned professor John Davison in his work. The first one was Jaroslav Flegr in his monography Evolutionary biology where he explained professor's John Davison theory of non-homology of germ cells in mammals.

Has anyone else noticed that he doesn't seem to get the blogging format?  His latest post (Feb 6) is full of his own comments, and I mean *full*.  I'd comment there, but I'm not interested in registering.  Maybe you should give him a nudge, Alan, so his points actually get read, in theory.

Given his several (3 or 4) previous attempts at blogging that wound up with 900-comment-single-post-blogs, it's unsurprising.

The fact that he even has multiple threads this time is almost cause for a pat on the back.

But obviously you are interested in registering here - only to make a complaint that you are not inetersted in registering at professor John Davison's  blog. Eh, you must be a darwinist, aren't you?

And what do you mean by "blogging format"? Is there any standard released by some www3 consortium or what? Be more specific.

Maybe professor Davison prefers commenting some issues at discussions' areas and maybe he don't want to introduce new threads every 2 hours like doctor Myers who writes his biological feuilletons from 6 AM till 24 PM 7 days a week like an automata.

I read professor Davison's posts and they are fine.

I do like that green on black colour scheme. Reminds me of my first adventures on the net - well, it wasn't the Net back then - on a 1200/75 bps modem, a 256x192 green screen monitor, and a ZX Spectrum. Now, it's a 20Mbps cable connection, a 1900x1200 screen and something with a good few billion more transistors (that cost almost exactly the same as that original setup, before inflation. And I don't get four-digit phone bills any more).

The arguments don't seem to have progressed much, though.

Have you ever heard about Paul Leautaud?

No, but since you like him, we know two things about him: he's probably dead, and probably had some idea no biologist in his right mind would accept today.

And odds are no one's bothered to translate him into English and he never wrote anything after the 1930's.

Pick the joy out of this...

Quote
His exploits as a seducer surprised even his acquaintances in the free and easy world of the theatre. "You'll end up in the courts one day, Leautaud"," he was told by an actress who warned against his taste for girls under the age of consent.

Each morning he would go out for a drink before breakfast. Surrounded by his pack of frisking dogs he swaggered down the street, eyes alert for women. In his hand he carried a dog whip. If he saw a woman he fancied the whip-lash would flick out and circle her waist from behind. Then he would pull her towards him. The ploy was usually effective. For every woman who resisted angrily there were always two or three ready to acquiesce. By the simple law of averages he was bound to win most of the time.

"Ah, you know he was a handsome fellow," Paul Leautaud's mother said later with a certain huskiness in her voice at the memory...

Though it was gratifying getting an apology out of VMartin when I kicked them both off my blog. Even he realized JAD had crossed the line, even if he didn't think he also did. Those two. Sheesh. :)

I posted this question at Bob's blog:

Does anyone know who is behind the pseudonym “VMartin”?

Has that ever been answered confidently?

BTW, "Fluppy" is such a happy and harmless sounding name, I hate to see it denigrated by being attached to JAD.

Of course, since the whelk is (among the lamellibranch bivalves) that most depraved of the whole sub-species and nothing but a homosexual of the worst kind, it is a fitting moniker. (3:50 into the vid)

I am impressed by Fred's patient and consistent approach in the storm of JAD's tired effrontery. JAD remains incapable of changing his well-worn behaviour in response...news at 11:00.

Well, I must say that after our final exchange, which scared me a little, I don't miss his presence. I knew this day would come and felt (and feel) sad about it, but I always felt that the real John was missing, anyway. I guess that's what mental illness does - steal one from oneself. One could not really just talk to him.

He could also make one laugh, I have to admit. And, of course, I'm sorry for his family, and for him. Yes, I have a soft spot too.
